Cargo Shorts or Pants - Fully Revised in 2009
This fully-illustrated 17-page pattern teaches you to use
one long circular needle to knit both legs of shorts or pants simultaneously -- no seams and no grafting!
It comes in four sizes to fit your baby from preemie to potty training. Knit with today's most popular yarns in either worsted, aran, or bulky. Instructions included for customizing the pattern for the hard-to-fit baby. Leave pockets off for a more traditional pants or shorts look.
Materials:

Use wool or wool
blend yarn; avoid superwash wool if you plan to use these pants as a diaper
cover. Select worsted, aran or bulky weight.*

US #3 circular
needle, 12” or 16” (for waistband)

US #7(8,9) 12” or
16” circular needle, or size to achieve gauge ( for main body of
soaker)

US #7(8,9) 40”
circular needle, or size to achieve gauge (for “magic looping” crotch
and legs)

Tapestry needle for
weaving in ends

Stitch markers,
tape measure, scissors

Buttons for
pockets, if desired.
*How much yarn?
Approximately 5-8 ounces for shorts and 6-10 ounces for pants. Do yourself a
favor… buy/dye more than you think. You can always make an adorable matching
hat out of the extra.
