Default Spinning

Funny... a few years ago, I would have pictured vinyl and turntables...
Anyway, how hard is it to spin yarn? Can't you make a simple spindle out of a cd and a pencil or something? Just wondered. Thinking about ordering some organic roving from beaverslide, but not if it takes forever or there is some huge learning curve.

I did see a segment on the DIY show Knitty Gritty where they showed you how to make a spindle w/ a dowel rod and a cd. Maybe do a search on their website. It's been a while ago, maybe back in the spring? www.diynet.com

I don't have a clue about spinning though, so I can't give you any advice at all...

Thank you!! That looks fun, but it would be frustrating when you found out that woman makes it look super easy.

Spinning itself is not hard - getting the yarn to be even takes a lot of practice. Spinning is very much like knitting - once you learn the motion it becomes effortless. Except spinning is even easier, because there's no pattern to follow!

Sigh, you're making me long for my spinning wheel. As soon as we're moved into our new house I get it back! It's been at my mom's for the past 3 years because our apartment and current house didn't have enough floor space for it.
