Default Please help me pick a color to match my kick-ass dress ;)

OOOOH, I LOVE this dress! I am so happy I won it. It's my treat to myself since we just got our return. (ok, that and some yarn, LOL)
It was way more than I wanted to spend, but still half of what a custom would have cost. (can you tell I'm still feeling guilty???).

Anyways, enough babbling. I want to make a shawl to go with it for when it's cooler. What color do you think? And should I do a super large square shawl (for anyone who has Folk Shawls, I think it's page 109), or do a smaller shawl?

I was thinking PF Ukranian Red or the black.

Any suggestions???

I vote for red, I mean you'll get noticed in the dress anyways, so why not go all out? A black shawl to me means a funeral (you know like those older italian movies)

Good point. I was leaning to red too. Might as well go all out.

So what size shawl do you think? Very large square one, or smaller (around the shoulders) rectangular one? Or do you think a triangular one would look better?
I am so indecisive, LOL.

I vote red, and a triangle shawl instead of a big square one The dress is definitely late spring/summery, so a big thick shawl seems kind of out of place with it. A more delicate triangle shawl would be perfect

Good point. And then it can drape down my back if I feel like covering my back up.

Now to find a pattern....

I need to decide before this evening so I can get my order in on the co-op. If I can't decide in time, how many do you think I should get, just in case? I was thinking 10, because whatever's left over I can always find a use for.

The Paisley Lace Shawl from the new IK might look nice.

Red, triangle. Not tiny but not huge and bulky either.

I must have just looked at over a dozen patterns online and I'm still not finding anything I that I think would look good w/the dress.
I want something feminine, but not *old* looking. I saw a pretty one done w/hearts on it, but I'm not sure if that would look right. I was thinking something lacy, but I might have to switch yarns then.

Congratulations on your score!!! I actually think a red shrug would be perfect! No point in covering up your beautiful new dress.

I think the wool peddler's shawl in Folk Shawls is beautiful. The sample is even knit in red it's fate!

On the first link, Sabrina, maybe one of the capelets? Or the peace or butterfly one.

Theresa,
You're right! How did I miss that one? Sheesh.
That is pretty. Plus it will also be nice to wear in the fall when we do all of our Halloween stuff. (I'm not thinking ahead or anything, LOL)

Wow, what a great dress. I'm going to go against the majority and say green, like the leaves. Red would be too much, I think, with all the red in the dress. Plus, it would be hard to get the right kind of red. If not green, I would do black. And stick with an open kind of shawl that you can see some of the dress through.
