Default Knitting with Beads?

Okay I am trying to get prepared to knit 'frolicking shamrocks' (which is quickly acquiring another F word in its name)

I dyed the yarn myself....which is another ordeal..

Anyway, I can't find 8/0 beads anywhere. That is the size the pattern calls for -- I can fin 6/0 which look huge and 10/0 which look mega puny (though the 11/0 look even more miniscule)

Any suggestions? Since the socks are for St. Patrick's day I doubt I can order beads and have them arrive in time.

I have been to Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's and Michaels.......

Maybe try Wal-mart? I bought some and I don't know the size of them, but I think they are close to what size you'd need. Plus, they had several different sizes...

Do you have a local bead shop? That's where I went to get the beads for my shawl. They had an overwhelming amount of colors in every size imaginable

I am such an idiot....

Later the day I posted this- I went over to Ravelry and posted to our KC crafting group...I knew where the bead stores were - but some have 'reputations'...and I didn't want to go to the 'wrong' place.

Several people recommended on shop - which was close to home so I went there.

Again being an idiot, I didn't take my yarn with me.....

I was greeted as I walked in the door and left to browse. I got to listen to the owner deal with telemarketers. Who called back 'we got disconnected' Um yes...b/c he HUNG up on you after telling you he wasn't interested and didn't have the time THREE times!!!

When I finally determined that I didn't remember my yarn color....I told them I was going home to get my yarn and would be back.

I probably would have appreciated more 'advice' from them since I am new to this...BUT I am pretty sure that they would have helped if I had asked....She was really helpful when I asked about needles. I spent more on those things - but am set for life...They sell the needles with the big collapsable eye in packs of 10.......(I bet they will work great for weaving in the ends of bulky wt. knitted stuff)

I threaded my beads on the yarn and started knitting last night.....Hopefully I will have something to show by Monday. (I am doing them magic loop style two at once.)
