Hi there,
I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I am a beginner knitter (well I started when I was 6 but haven't really done it again until recently). I am thinking of buying the pattern for the wonderpants/shorts but I am so scared that I won't be able to do this justice. Any advice would be great as well as where to buy my yarn. I am SO clueless. Thanks in advance |

Welcome to the group. Don't feel too clueless - we were all there at one time too. The wonder pants are a great placet o start with soakers - the suppot here is GREAT.. I am sure everyone could give different yarn selections.... The main thing is that if you are using them for over cloth diapers you will probably want to use 100% wool that has not been treated to be superwash (although some foks will say that superwash wool works well for them ---for others it doesn't stay dry) Not the other issue might be budget and what you have access to... I started out with soakers from FIsherman's wool from Lion Brand. It is pretty widely available --- I got mine at JoAnn's I am not sure who all carries it now....(With a 40% off coupon the yarn is about $6 for 16 ounces which willl make several items --- and the yarn can be diyed with kool-aid or food coloring really easily) I also like Plymouth Outback which is a bit more money ...but a good wool and comes in pretty colorways...... Everyone seems to have their own yarn preferenes and I am guessing if you asked 5 people you would get 5 different suggestions. If you have a Local Yarn shop (LYS) you might go there...It is pretty likely they won't know about soakers - unless they are pretty progressive. (My LYS owner is planning on using them with her baby due next month so she is really hip to it) It is always nice to touch the wool....you want something that will be soft where it touches skin -- but also sturdy enough to actually soak up the moisture from the diaper. I hope that helps a bit... I am sure you will see more answers soon.
