I LOVE using fitted diapers with my wool! I have only 3 fitteds. Fat chance that I can get dh to snappy or pin a prefold on..... (and even then would he do it correctly?? hmmm) So I'm wondering if anyone any of you use fitted diapers and if so what kind do you like?? I'd love to get some for the baby but I'd like to have a couple dozen and at $12-30 each I can't afford to. Are there any good but cheaper ones out there??

I've never used them, but a lot of people like pattynaps as lower priced diapers. Also, the TP on MDC is a great place to look for deals. :) I really like loveybums newborn diapers, but I have bigger babies. Not sure how well they'd fit on a 6 or 7lb baby.

I love www.lucyshopechest.com, and she gives quantity discounts.

ummm..... but for less money....
I have no clue. Can you make some? Do you object to buying used items?

I've been wanting to learn to sew and I'd love to sew some diapers but I don't think I'd be able to learn to sew well enough before the baby is born.....

If you aren't opposed to buying used diapers I'd look on the Trading Post at MDC or DiaperPin.com. You can find some great diapers for not a lot of $$$. That is how I got the majority of mine. :)

Yes, I would have to agree with this for sure about MDC TP!
Just today I bought a barely used Firefly sleeptight for $18 incl shipping. The diapers normally sell for $32 plus shipping new which I wasn't willing to pay without asking first if anyone had one they could part with. ''
Anyway best wishes in finding some more affordable fitteds ;)

I use all fitteds with my ds. I have only boughten kissaluvs, and for the price they are really good little diapers. Hayden is outgrowing all his smalls so I am making him some with my own pattern. These are turning out really well. I did just order one each of the new happy heiny's fitted, the side snap sugarpeas, adn the front snap, I hope I like them!
I got my kissaluvs at Zannadu.com cause they do discounts the more you buy, something like 56.00 per 6 or so?
also if you are going to make your own I like to buy fabric through the One Stop Diaper Shop, they have a good variety of fabrics.

I just started carrying Swaddlebees (they're not even up on my site yet) but they are the best fitteds we've ever used. A bit pricey but not as bad as the Hyena dipes.

For newborns, I got a six pack of Kissaluvs 0's and loved them. I think the six pack was about $56? I got them from www.thanksmama.com -- I loved them for the newborn stage, but wouldn't use them beyond, since they get soaked very quickly and take forever to dry. But newborns are changed to often anyways....
I also love sugarplumbaby! :) She used to have a cotton quick-dry option on her site that newborns and smalls (with snaps) were only $7.50 a piece. You could probably email her and ask if she still has those available to be made. There weren't many fabric choices, but for the price, can't beat it! I have a medium that I'm still using with my daughter right now, and I love it.

I had some 'snap to fit'/snug to fit that worked well for my kiddos----although I know a lot of folks don't like them......
My dh would only use the snap one with our first CD'd kiddo....But by the next one I discovered the snappy and he was quite skilled with that. I don't know what the deal was ---maybe he just realized we WERE saving money since I already had the diapers???? (That and with the older one we kept sposies - for when we were 'away from home'...by the next i wised up- it was just too easy to grab the sposies for Dh --who would say "I thought he was going to poop"...so for the last we NEVER had sposies....we were never home anyway so she would have been is sposies all the time if I adhered to that 'cd at hom and sposies away ...."

I have one ecobaby grow with me diaper and I really like it! Most sites sell them for over $14 but I just found this site www.childorganics.com and they sell them for $12 each. I just emailed to see if they will give me a discount if I order a dozen. Even then I don't know if I can afford it BUT we'll see!

Hey Amber, what about conture diapers? IVe never tried them but they are a good inbetween that are a low price.
Rachel, I am really wanting to try the swaddlbees. Good to hear you like them. Maybe next month.
Pam I see you mentioned using sposies away from home, we tried to do that too but what I found is that the sposies actually are worse at containing poo on my baby. I swear every single time he poops in one it shoots right out the back, and almost always its barely any poop but just seems like it cause its ALL out the back. Not so great on car rides. All the diapes he is wearing now are homemade Im pretty proud that he has never once had a blowout!

I tried a few but none came close to little beetles http://www.betterforbabies.com. I LOVE these diapers. They aren't too cheap, but there are quantity discounts and they are only 2 sizes, so might be cheaper over time?

Oh, the little beetles look nice, very similar to the Grow With Me diapers!!

Amber I just got my sugarpeas in the mail, I really really like these! I got a side snapping that I love it fits great on both my 4 month old and my 2 yr old. I also got a 2size diaper, that also fits great. http://www.sugarpeas.com/ if youre interested.

I rediscovered sewing (hadn't sewn in like 15 years) just so I could sew my own diapers because I figured I could make them for WAY cheaper! And I was right! :-) I also couldn't believe how easy it was to make them! I only make fitteds. At first, I made two in ones, but since I've discovered wool, I'm only making regular fitteds - non-waterproof that is. I've never tried prefolds or any other kind of cloth diaper so can't compare, but DH and I love the side snapping fitteds. They're so easy to use! And we've NEVER EVER EVER had a leak or a blow out using them. I can't tell you how many clothes got stained by poop with DD1 when she was in sposies! GROSS!
Anyway, this time around, being pregnant with DD3 and having 2 other children under 2 1/2 years, I couldn't find enough time to sew some newborn dipes, so I bit the bullet and bought some instead. I went with Mother Ease diapers and just love them! They work really well on DD3! I bought the stay dry liners to go with them too for extra absorbency. Teamed with a wool cover, I have zero complaints. I may buy some of the next size up, small, since I have even less time to sew now! :nut When I DO have time to do something, I usually knit soakers since I could do that while the kids play or even while I'm nursing. My sewing machine is in a whole other room so it's not very convenient.
