Canadian kool-aid

Is it really different for the US kool-aid? We're going to Vancouver BC next week and I thought maybe I should stock up some (grape). Dh is going to think I'm :nut .

Yes they are...And I have a Canadian friend doing some testing too.
I found the Tropical Punch is different as well as the grape (which I posted a picture of) They also have a blue which I have never seen - can't think of the name right now but it is awesome too...and I have heard it gets even more intense the more packets you use....I only had 2.

Canadian kool-aid seems to make colors brighter for some reason. I have heard it many times. Here's something I saw on the socknitters website:

Ann from Philosophers Wool said that American Kool aid in the red, purple and orange flavors do not give a true color. She is right. Canadian red, grape and orange are the best.

I'm in Canada so I can't say if my colors are brighter or not since I only use Canadian kool-aid! LOL!

I think that Canada has banned the typical red that is in US KA which accounts for the difference. It seems that all the colors with significant differences are those with a red in them!

Interesting. So would Canadian grape turn out purple instead of the burgandy of the American grape? :chin

One more reason for me to want to move to Canada! Are there any Canadians here?

I think that the reason has to do with the FDA and the type of dye that is allowed to be used here. I know that some coloring has been suspect of being carcinogenic. Blues and reds (Lake), I believe.

I always feel guilty buying Kool- Aid at the market. I'm standing there with my kiddies and always feel like everyone is going to view me as the mom who gives her bebe the bottle with the Kool-Aid in it.
