I *loathe* the foundation row/round with crochet. I dont' know if I chain too tightly or what, but I haven't made any crocheted pants or soakers b/c I HATE that first row. Is there another method for starting? Or am I probably doing it too snug? I think maybe I'm a tight hooker b/c my fabric doesn't seem to stretch much at all and the foundation rows are so sucky.

Just use a huge hook for that row to make your chains really big. Then use a smaller hook for the next row. I crochet really tight too and learned the hard way to always use bigger hooks than everyone else.:nut

Good to know it is not just me. I really wanted to do some dand. dreamers pants but keep not doing them b/c of that first round. feel dumb for not thinking to just use a bigger hook:rolleyes: :idea thanks

Naw, I hate the first round too. :shake It's not just you. It's one of those things you just kind of have to make yourself do and then move on.
