Tomorrow is the start date for those who are ready to go......
I thought we should start a thread----and say what yarn we are using...and who we are knitting for ---I hope lots of people are knitting for themselves.....

I am knitting one for me....Not sure what size ---probably the next to the smallest.....

I am using Peace Fleece in Tundra......

Well I was hoping to get to cast on tonight.......But my andromeda came so all bets are off......That and both sets of my good needles are in work....

Oooh Rachel, nice!!! I'm on row 5 (knitting size Sm)

Gillian the yarn is nice but it doesn't feel bulky tlike they are classifying it. I went up in needle size since I knit tight and now I'm thinking I should have gone with 9 & 7 vs 10 & 8 guess we shall see when I'm done.

Can't wait to see the finished results. I don't think I have time for it right now...Can anyone link me to that cheap Elann wool that used to be with the pattern?

ETA: Found the yarn

What's the difficulty level of this sweater?

I don't see anything actually printed on pattern for a difficulty level. But, I would assume no more than advanced beginner?

I'm almost to the joining row now, and I'm really breezing through, I think mine will take the longest, I seem to be the only one that needs to make an XL. :hide

well rather than think I have a problem with starting this project, I will just consider that I am giving you a 'head start'...I spent last nigh playing with my andromeda. (HOpefully fondling it - rather than spending 'quality' time with my DH will protect me from the 'fertility goddess' hiding in T's yarn...)

Okay- got a question!

I started last night, I'll post pics later after I wake up. It's 6am here and I am only awake because the little one insisted...so we're watching Dora while I try to wake up.

So my question...I just finished the buttonhole and it says continue the pattern "for four inches." Does this mean four inches from that point on, or four inches total from the beginning? I'm a tad confused...

jenniebug
01-10-2006, 08:02 AM
I take it to mean 4 in from that spot....

Alright, I was wondering that, I'll just have to place a marker I guess...

pics of my current wip are on my blog. How do I post them here?

You can post them using a free image hoster like photobucket, :)

I went and read the pattern and mine says 4in from the buttonhole. So the garter stitch edge you are making will be 4" in length, thats the fornt of the neck.

What yarn is everyone using? i got the naturwool that was listed with the pattern. Its ok, but I want to make one in a softer yarn in a lighter shade after I finish this one. I'd love to know what others are using and how they like the yarn.

I'm using lb homespun, not really my fav. to knit with, but, it is soft!

I am thinking marr haven for my next pullover...

Ok pattern help. I am not understanding the join. Do I knit the 4 st from the left as if I am k2tog with the 4 st on the right to make the join? Am I over thinking this?

ladydemetreis
01-11-2006, 08:24 PM
Nope, your not over thinking at all! it took me a moment too. Yes, You will overlap both peices and (be sure to have the buttonhole on top), Just start knitting both those peices together and you will have joined. :)

norcalmommy

I have about an inch left to go before I join, I'll have to refer back to this!

Looking good! I just did the joining last night, and will work on this more today. It's going so fast, I love this sweater! I may never do another sweater unless it is a top down raglan style ever again!

Okay peeps...howz it? I have one more row until I separate the sleeve stitches from the body. THen it's miles and miles of stockinette...

I am an english knitter, but if I knit for long periods of time my hands cramp, so I've been trying switching to continental for periods of time and it's just not working for me! My left index finger doesn't want to cooperate as the yarn holder!

ladydemetreis
01-17-2006, 08:55 PM
ug, I'm about 3" into that st st part after the divide, the darn sweater takes my entire lap up! (I'm making the XL) :sigh

Got a bit bored, make some mocs for Saige and now working on an EWS for her...still knitting on the sweater in between...

Im nearly to the arm split. I got bored with the yarn so I made myself a Marnie scarf, then casted on for a matching hat, that I struggle oing the drop stitch on a in the round project. Then I started mocs for my dad, onl to find that I just cant make the larger mocs no matter how much extra I cast on for length. Grrr

And since my store is stocking tommorow I havent knit anything today or yesterday as Im sewing and picture taking myself in to boredom lol I'll get back to the hoodie on Friday I swear!

Alrighty- I uploaded a progress pic on my blog, so you'll have to go there to see it.

The endless stockinet is B O R I N G, but at least it is easy to put down and pick up and knit a few stitches here and there. It's going pretty quickly.

Progress report here...I cast on last night...Am about 3 inches after the button hole.......

I want to get to the join....my knitting flat is much looser than in the round...not sure if it is going to mess things up or not....it looks a bit loose to me.

Looks great Gillian!

I umm have put mine down, the brown is boring me. I'll pick it back up this weekend when I get tired of knitting legs on Rhis new longies.
