I rescued my poor, gorgeous, handmade and underused spinning wheel from my parents last night. I've been spinning today when the girls and the little man allow me to.
Who here spins?
Yeah, I also purchased the Joy of Handspining basics cd on impulse. Oops.

I would love to learn, maybe next summer, I'm not ready for it yet.

I do not. DH would have to move out if I started buying roving. Nowhere to put him and the kids and the yarn and the roving. :)
Just had my first lesson a couple of weeks ago on the wheel I got last Christmas :bag.

I do! Addicted too. Very time consuming though! Getting some new fibres for Christmas I hope. Working on some different silks now.
I have a Lendrum DT wheel and still haven'T taken the time to learn how to spin! Sigh... When I bought it a couple of months ago I was really excited but now I'm mostly depressed, spinning isn't as easy as knitting. ;)

I do! I really love it. It's relaxing for me. I don't have a wheel though, just spindles! I'll get a wheel eventually.

I have a spinning wheel on my santa list, but since I only treat myself last...who knows if we will really have the funds.

I would love to learn.
How did you all learn how to spin? Did you teach yourselves?
How do you go about getting into it?
(20 questions :) )

Well when I was in high school I sold my french horn and bought a spinning wheel. There was a teeny, tiny fiber shop about an hour away from me where I took two lessons. So spinning for me has been a learn-as-you-do experience.
Start w/ a drop spindle. That way you get the basics down w/out a large investment. Videos are awesome. The JoyOfHandspinning.com & ICanSpin.com have nice instructions.
So to get into it you'll need:
some prepared fiber (roving)
a drop spindle
a basics video/cd (Joy of handspinning has some)
