would you be using art yarns (http://www.jennyneutronstar.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cart=1502&cat=1&) for one of a kind projects?

I've been getting back into spinning lately and ran across a few art yarn sites yesterday. Most of these yarns are wild (http://www.jennyneutronstar.com/shop/images/129_th.jpg), but for some reason they're calling my name. I fell in love with this one (http://www.pluckyfluff.com/system.html) and want to make a fabulous hat for my kiddos from it.

So, if money were no object, would you be tempted by these super unusual yarns? (http://www.pluckyfluff.com/yarn.html)

Nope. Not at all. Not my style :)

Ummm... some of the calmer ones are okay, but the balls and the birds... nope. Yuck, IMO. I like the bulky wool with sparkle in there, but not really into the other stuff.

Maybe for a super funky scarf, but they really aren't me. This is also the reason that my biggest lys just doesn't appeal to me at all-everything seems to be either 1)seven million different fibers, all funked up in dayglo colors or 2)super lluxuary fibers, but solid colors and way out of my price range for the things I would want to do with them, or 3) simple and boring-cascade 220, canadiana, etc.

My dream is a local store with lots of wool, kettle dyed for the solids and lots of hand paints, and some reasonable prices so I can venture out into trying new things.

Until then, it's my online sources, I guess. LOL

I can definitely appreciate the artistry and time. But they are not what I would knit with.

I do like the unusual yarns. Did you see the one with the vintage glass trumpet flower beads? So cool. I don't know so much that I would knit with them; I'd rather fill a pretty crystal bowl with the yarn and set it out as decoration.

maybe maybe some of them, for a scarf, but not really, that stuff is to yarn what runway fashion is to sahms

Sorry Katie, they look like something the cat sicked up to me  but we all have different tastes which is what makes this forum interesting :D.

I'm mysteriously attracted to the cat-sick! Lol!

Ok. I don't like all of them. Like the baby jesus yarn. That frightens me. But some of the pretty ones I really want.

Since I'm not the yarn nazi, you may feel free to like or dislike; I won't take the least bit of offence.

Some are neat, some not so much. There a few I would be more inclined to display rather than actually knit. :)

nope, not my style. quite a few of them actually reminded me of the big box novelty yarns that I abhor!!

I for one think they're very artsy....but I would NOT have any idea what you could make, besides a throw pillow or crazy hat. Or GARLAND or something.

I LIKE THEM.

Some are a little too "funky" for my taste, quite a few I could see using as display yarn, tho.

A couple I now want (thanks, LOL!)

I like them alone, but I don't like them knitted up into things.

I can see them as felted bags.

STOP. CALLING. MY. NAME!!!! I can't start any more projects right now! No, I don't need to start spinning yarn again, maybe some day, not right now.

Dang those voices in my head!

They look like stuff I used to use for weaving.

Sorry Katie, they look like something the cat sicked up to me

If your cat barfs up stuff like this, lets trade cats... You'll still have cat puke to clean up, but I can then weave with what I get from your cat, and you won't be so shocked by the cat puke. Cleo has verrrry normal looking hair balls. Hahaha, yes, I am rotflmcbo, hehehe.
