I'm working on a clapotis for my gma for christmas, but seeing it now I'm not sure she'll like it. I was thinking that if I had time (since it's new years that we do christ mas) I could do a crochet shawl, but not sure what stitch a sI have only done single and double crochet. Maybe the lace stitch where you chain 3 and slip sts into every other sts?? or something... but not sure how to increase. I'd love something as simple as a triangular garter sts knit shawl, but crocheted.

Starting from the long end, determine how long you want it even number of stitches, Say 80, just a guess, sc the first row for a decent base.
Row 2 For a bobble like effect you can sc, tc repeat across.
Row 3 SC 2 tog, tc, sc til last 2 stitches tc 2 stitches together
Row 4 repeat row 2
Row 5 repeat row 3
I think that will work.

Here's a VERY simple crochet shawl, choose a pretty yarn (this works up beautifully in a boucle) and corresponding hook. This isn't my pattern, but one that was online a few years ago (it disappeared last I knew)
Helen's Half Granny Square Shawl:
Ch 4
Row 1: 2dc ch2 3dc in fourth Ch from hook. Ch 3 turn. (ch3 counts as
first dc now and through out)
Row 2: 2dc in first dc (do not skip as you would normally when doing dc),
(3dc ch2 3dc) in next sp (in between 3dc groups), 3 dc in last dc. Ch 3
turn.
Row 3: 2dc in first dc, 3 dc in next sp, (3dc ch2 3dc, Tip made) in next
sp, 3dc in next sp, 3dc in last dc.
You will repeat row 3 until the shawl is big enough, then either finish off
or work a boarder around. It looks really nice with a shell boarder around
all sides but the top, but this is just my opinion.
Shell Boarder: (work 4 or 5 dc in one sp, sc in the next) around until you
reach the tip, work 6 or 7 dc in tip, (work 4 or 5 dc in one sp, sc in the
next) around until you are done. :-)
