I have purchased a few little presents for the kids and dh but nothing big.....I just haven't had the interest/energy...Nor the ability to shop w/out prying eyes....

Now this is knitting related.....

I just found out through checking the inventory that my local Border's has IN STOCK...

At Knit's end: Meditations for Women Who knit to much

and
Yarn Harlot: the Secret Life of a Knitter

I have a $10 off $40 purchase which I plan to use..I am taking Dd to the bookstore tonight --- I owe her a book (My SIL - great brain that she is...came to the kid's thanksgiving program - and book fair - and bought books for my DS and neglected to even acknowledge my dd!)

Then since they DON'T have New Knits on the Block I am going to get it from Knitpicks---and to get free shipping I suppose I must get something else---I am getting Opinionated knitter........

Do you think I should wrap them and put them under the tree! (I justified New Knits.....that it will be knits for the kids so it really ISN'T for me! LOL)

I think I should take a :fbow for my creativity in justifying my purchases.

Not bad at all. That's what you are supposed to do.

I buy all my own stuff and put it under the tree :) Last year hubby did surprise me with the new crafting table I had been eyeballing, I was stunned! I had already purchased my USM so I had no thought of him buying something like that for me. So at my house, mom getting her own stuff is just how it is :)

:nod I have several friends who purchase items for themselves and then fill out the tag like it's from the kids. Great justification.

I just wanted to add that when I get the stuff for myself that the kids are getting me, I give it to hubby and he gives it to the kids for wrapping. They don't know that I know what is in there. We have been doing it this way forever. Hubby doesn't shop. . .he is permagrounded from it. He spends way to much money

I prefer that my dh NOT shop...

He doesn't pay the bills -- well he makes the money but I am the one working the budget....

He doesn't shop around

I wonder if he ever figured out that one year I returned nearly EVERY gift he gave me. (Sad, but I knew we needed the money for other stuff...And I didn't want it at the price he paid for it--IYKWIM)

Yup, same here. He says "I make it, you spend it" and he means it. I pay all the bills and do all the shopping. He has a budjet and is allowed to do whatever he wants with that money. Anything else and he asks permission :) Works out very well for us actually.

Bummer on the Christmas stuff, but I am sure you know what is best. Mine doesn't shop around either, part of his permagrounding. If he does want to shop I send him a list of exactly what I want and where to get it. I send him a few things to choose from so he can still surprise me. Doesn't happen often though, he usually just lets me do it myself.
