View Full Version : Dyeing & lanolizing?

I'm wondering if I could lanolize my wool right after it's dyed and before it's knit.
Since it's already wet and I'm going to have to wait for it to dry, I'd like to combine the steps. I'm also thinking it would be so soft to knit with.
Can you tell I'm incredibly impatient?

I have done it, but don't have the final soaker done to tell how well it functions (as in did I get enough lanolin in it.)
I would recommend "setting" the dye too...otherwise you will end up stripping out a good bit of the lanolin when you set the dye. (I set mine by soaker in vinegar water solution and then steaming in my veggie steamer---I just encluded this info. as an FYI - you may have already done this or something similar.)

I lanolize after I dye, cause it hurts my hands when I don't as the yarn is rougher. I also lanolize again once the soaker's finished. :) Not really sure if I have to, but i do anyway.. :D

Can I lanolize a finished soaker now and dye it later when I decide what color I want?
Thanks
