Inseam Measurements?

Hi All,

I am wanting to do longies, but need to figure out WHERE you all measure your inseam from..is it measured from the EDGE of the crotch to the end of leg, or is it from the CENTER of the crotch to the leg...I cannot seem to find this info anywhere

Please HELP!!!!

it depends on how you do your crotch, LOL For my pants, I do edge of crotch, becuase my crotch shaping is all in teh body, but for a pattern that has some of the shaping in the upper inseam, I'd think you'd want to measure from center crotch.

Hrm...I don't think I understand...here's my pattern...starts w/ribbing...then body,then tons of shaping for the crotch..crotch is roughly 3" at narrowest point. Now do I measure from the edge of that or from the center?

I'd measure from the top.

Does it help to think about how you measure inseam on a person? I thought that measurement was generally from the spot on teh inner thigh a the top of the leg (right where the pubic area starts.) I would think you would want to figure where your pants/longies would fit in relation to that and measure from that point.

Oh, sorry in advance if I just made it even more confusing.

That's what I was thinking..to measure from the edge..now to figure out how long to make the legs..<sigh>...any ideas where I'd find that info?

An already made pair of pants? It's gonna vary by child anyways...I think I'd err on the long side since they can always be rolled up.

I read somewhere that you measure down to where the ankle bone sticks out.
