What do you recommend? Anyone used Kate Gilbert's gifted mittens pattern? I want to use HPY bulky...that's what I have on hand for dd's preschool teacher presents and mitts was my plan. I thought maybe I could play with the guage and use T's pattern but maybe not..

Ugh, Gilbert's is knit flat.
I really just want T's but I asked her and she didn't think that the yarn would yield the right guage. Time to start guage swatching - ack - and make it happen! :LOL

I am knitting up a very simple mitten pattern from http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/hatnmitts.html
So far so good - it is a two needle pattern, though, so not sure if that helps.

http://webhome.idirect.com/~quanah/patlopimitts.html is the one I decided on. I still have to go get needles for it, since I can't get guage on anything I have here lying around (ugh)
however, if that doesn't float your boat, I found it here:http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/mittens_gloves.php
and if you can't find one there............well...............

Okay, so I'm knitting for dd's preschool teachers - I don't know if I should knit mitts for a woman's large or small??
http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_3047862,00.html this one uses a heavy worsted weight for the hand part (and a novelty.fluffy yarn for the cuff) - knit on 10s, gauge is: 16 sts and 22 rows = 4"x4" on size US 10 (6mm) needles in stockinette

Well, I decided on the same one as Megan, so we'll see how it goes!

Megan - have you made any headway with that pattern? I got finished the thumb gusset and frogged it. Wasn't happening for me.
