You know you want one!
http://secure.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=Knitting+Pure+%26+Simple+Leaf let+0244+%2D+Neckdown+Hooded+Tunic+for+Women&Cat=&ProductType=4&Count=1

And after knitting holiday gifts for everyone, you need something for yourself! Simple pattern, top down and in the round. I plan on starting this AFTER December 25, so plenty of time to order your yarn and pattern.

Who wants to join me? :knit

I have the pattern, and it calls for medium to heavy worsted (16 st per 4 in on size 9s), even though this listing on elann says chunky. I have been assured by the wise knitters here that this yarn will work:
http://secure.elann.com/sneakpeek.asp
...even though it says it is aran weight (18 st per 4 in on 8s). I want to use it because it has alpaca in it and it's nice and soft :)

Elann has new stock of peruvian highland chunky in some nice colors as well:
http://secure.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=Peruvian+Collection+Highland+ Chunky&Cat=NEW&ProductType=5&Count=3

I also thought that peace fleece might work nicely on larger needles.

Lots of possibilities! :love

ty for the info Gillian :) Maybe I can get some cheap chunky woolease or something, I'll have to see! PF is out of the question for me, I could never have it against my skin...

Hm I was interested and was gonna post a 'no' b/c no chunky weight in my stash...BUt I have lots of PF....maybe I should swatch and see what my gauge is like...If I can get gauge I am in....I even know what peace fleece I want to use...

.I even know what peace fleece I want to use...
Oooh- which color? There are so many PF colors that I think it would look nice in...like Lenas Meadow, tundra, or hemlock...or volgassippi blue, siberian midnight...too many to list!

I like the PF too, just will not work on my body, :LOL! Probably my best bet is the wool/acyrlic blend, its gotta be soffftttt!

You know I don't think there is a single pattern by Knitting pure and simple that I wouldn't like....

Some of the yarns at HPY might also work nicely, like the colonia 140:
http://handpaintedyarn.com/index.php?cPath=61
or the ejido 160:
http://handpaintedyarn.com/index.php?cPath=60

and if you order now you will most likely have it in a month! :)

Hmm, I might make one for my mom. Let me see what yarn I can find for less (like Lion Brand, etc.). I'm still a frugal knitter at this point!

I got my yarn yesterday and I quickly knitted up a swatch and got gauge, yahoo! I ordered the sierra aran from elann on Tuesday and it arrived Friday after Thanksgiving, super quick, gotta love elann, I am a total addict :nut

I was planning to start after my holiday knitting is done, probably after Christmas (even though I want to go cast on right now...must wait!). When do y'all want to start?

pmcgary

I am headed to the LYS this afternoon to see if they have the pattern. If they don't I am going to see if they can get it for me. (I don't want to pay shipping if I don't have to...and I probably should give said LYS a bit of my money....since I go there and knit - with yarn from elsewhere.)

jenniebug
11-27-2005, 10:24 AM
Definetly want to start after Christmas. I have way way way too much to do in the next 5 weeks without adding this on lol Besides I want to enjoy knitting it not feel like I am having to rush or take away from my other projects ;)

pmcgary

Where have/are people getting this pattern?

My stupid LYS didn't have them---and since no one even offered me any help I didn't get the chance to ask if they would order it for me.....So now I need to decide where to get it from...

I got mine from elann because it was a good price, I have received excellent cs form them in the past, and I was also picking up some other yarn from them. I know that knitting pure and simples web site has a list of on line retailers that sell the patterns, and you might be able to find free shipping somewhere.

so far the best shipping I could find was 2.50 - which seems like a lot for a $4 pattern.

If I don't figure it out tonight, then on Tues I will call the yarn shop and ask them to order it if they will

I have my pattern. I called the LYS and they said they could order it...After searching for it for 10 minutes AFTER I told them they didn't have it.....

Anyway, picked it up today......Julie said the owner liked it so much that they did a full order. The owner will be making herself one!

I think as long as they carry the company they can.....I don't know if there is some min. order though....If you can't get one that way..I would be glad to pick one up at our LYS and charge you actual postage (rather than the $2+ anywhere else would charge)

jenniebug
12-15-2005, 06:16 AM
Pam I may need to ask that of ya. I don't have an LYS as far as I know (Renate could tell me if I'm wrong) and Elann is sold out. I had sent the link to buy it to DH as my gift but alas....

Um yea! It is such and effort and sacrifice for me to HAVE to go to the yarn store! I mean you have to be really special to make me WANT to get in my car and drive there...

(Dripping with sarcasm in case you couldn't tell)

Any exuse to pet the yarn. My dd was touching a bunch of the yarn and making this very ecstatic sound....I told the staff it was too bad we didnt' have THAT on video as it would have been a great commercial.

And they are selling it for $1 less than my LYS BUT thereis that $4 shipping - probably not a bad deal if you are getting other stuff.

I couldn't find anywhere on line offering it for less than $2.50 shipping....

I don't remember everything I read here so I certainly don't expect anyone else to do any more than I do....

And actually I think my LYS is passing their shipping on to the customer...the pattern in the store is $5.30 (that is $5 plus .30 for the government....

If anybody else wants me to pick them up one let me know...I figure the postage should be under a dollar (I should have gone and weighed my pattern today) Of course I also need to find some big envelopes as I don't want to fold the pattern......

I love me some elann. Serious addiciton problem over here :blush

We are out of town until the 28th, and I will probably still be trying to finish dh's sweater, so after the new year would be perfect for me. I have my pattern, yarn, and needles, so I am itching to get started on this!

For those who are planning on knitting this with 'a group'...how does January 9 sound as a start date?

I was thinking that would get us though the holidays - and get any school kiddos back to classes......

And hopefully anyone who is waiting for yarn would have it by then....

Who's in???? (I am setting a date b/c I have to finish Ds' Faux Cable sweater to free up the needles I want --- both my addi turbo and my bampoo are in the sweater right now......)

ladydemetreis

LOL. I just noticed this thread. My SIL and MIL are way into this pattern right now. They have been cranking them out for each other and family. They look like they have been using Encore but I didn't ask.
