*sigh* I've had help at the house since my son got hurt, I love my MIL but am afraid I have a laundry problem. My son had on a HH today and my friend was holding him in the nursery when all of a sudden her leg was wet, on both sides of his butt :(
I changed him, the soaker of course totally dry... the urine was just sitting there.. ARRHGGH

OK, so... Washed in hot, this isn't a suds problem. There aren't any. I use Sun detergent and I've been washing them since the first time hubby tried to help a couple weeks ago and dried the "prerinsed" diapers. My mil uses alot more detergent and fabric softner... which I have but rarely use on regular clothes. She's also been using dryer sheets.

So, I *think* this is the problem BUT

HOW DO I FIX IT???? acckkkk

That really sucks, and it's embarrassing when it happens to a friend or someone you've been trying to win over to the cd side.

Many mamas have had a lot of success w/ just washing the diapers in hot water, baking soda, and an optional couple of drops of tea tree oil. That's it! Diapers are CLEAN, no build-up, no suds to worry about, no repelling fleece, and no stinky hemp. And it isn't expensive! :brow

I am not familiar with the HH as such, but my mother was helpful and washed a couple of my gerber covers with a bit of Downy.......I just washed them several times as usual and eventually they went back to normal.

Another thing that might help is a laundry product called Sportwash (Wally world has it in the sporting goods dept.) It is supposed to be used to get the various smells out of hunting gear. I know moms who have used it for getting the urine smell out of dipes and I know it was recommended to revive FB. With the FB you wash them wrong side out in the sport wash. It isn't a very expensive product to try.

Use the sportwash or Dawn dish detergent. I just do a squirt of Dawn per load when I want to do a strip. Works every time.

I like your idea tana! I'd heard of doing Dawn, but only a laborous "scrubbing" at the sink.

I just want my laundry machines back to myself!! LOL

The squirt worked!! One wash...

Of course, while we were at hospital she did all my laundry, bless her heart. I did diapers the night before, so hopeully we're safe!

At least the fix was super easy.

Hmmff. heck, I just trade them online for things I really want anyway. LOL i should tell her if she really wants to help, go to the LYS and get me some NORO darnit!
