Ok, after 7 hours (give or take) of kitting I proudly examine my handywork only to notice this odd twist to it:

I pretty much know that this waistband is shot..as much as it pains me (literally). However, how did it happen? How can I make sure it doesn't happen again? I have redone this stupid waistband like 6 times already. I thought I was doing good this time. I am near tears.
Help?
Thanks
Stephenie

Ah this one I know from experience. When you joined to make it a circle you has some of hte stitches twisted.

Make sure all the "bumps" are pointed down when you join. I kept doing it over and over on my last soaker too!@

ACK...I was hoping beyond all hope that somebody would tell me that this isn't a complete loss. Oh well...hopefully I'll get it right next time. Why did it take me 7 hours to notice it?? LOL
Thanks

Because all those stitches bunched together with very few rows don't show it very will I guess. I was completely done with my ribbing or so I thought when I discovered mine! It happens to all of us I think. (And then there was the infamous mobius scarf that I knit recently- it is supposed to have a twist in it---- you do it on purpose so the scarf will lie flat under a jacket--- well I didn't get that right. I was so mad!)

If you have enough yarn, I say bind off loosely and use it as a hair piece or bandanna. Then try again. I did the same thing with the tart hat, and didn't notice until I had put in over two hours on the darn thing.

I am now super careful with my join, making sure none of the stitches are twisted before joining.

Good luck and hang in there! :hug

That has happened many a time for me! Even after all this knitting ... still does. Maddening, isn't it? Sorry. :emb

The long tail cast on - especially the German Twist really help eliminate this. I recently knitted 7" of the wet bag tester - before I noticed that it was twisted. Major :pez I even checked twice to make sure it wasn't twisted (I am a moron!) The German Twist cast on creates a more subsstantial CO than the half hitch, and therefore the stitches twist [glow=orange:3fdb58989d]significantly[/glow:3fdb58989d] less!
