I'm working on writing up my soaker pattern, as I'm toying with the idea of selling it. I'm thinking of including both a pattern (where everything is written up for you in black and white) and also a recipe (where you could customize your soaker options and yarn). Do you think that there is interest for the "recipe" part of the pattern? It is going to take by far, the most time to write. However, it will allow you to choose the kind of waistband: 1x1 rib, 2x2 rib, short, tall, drawstring; leg hole placement: toward the side or toward the front; cuff style: crochet, ribbed, rolled, or plain; yarn weight: daytime, nightime, fast knit, etc. The recipe will also allow you to make the soaker to a custom size & fit.
What do you look for in a soaker pattern? Lots of options? Simple & straight forward?
All comments are welcome!

Hmmm...I voted, but it didn't take my selection. I'll have to post this to Pam in the site suggestions.
I love the idea of a recipe soaker! That way I can make all the decisions myself, and no two soakers will ever be the same!!!

I thought the recipe would be fun & have started out that way. I've been doing a lot of knitting research lately, to make the recipe easy to follow.
I know the F&F has a recipe type pattern. I haven't seen it, and hope I wouldn't be stepping on her toes, so to speak. I've just learned so much by making my own custome soakers, that I thought I'd share, so people wouldn't make my rookie mistakes.

F&F is a recipe style, but only in getting the measurements, not in the design of the soaker. What it sounds like you're doing is a recipe style in terms of design. I say, Go for it!

Ahh, that's good to know. Right now I'm working on sizing for the "pattern" part of the, uh, pattern. Sizing is enough to make me :faint . Good thing soakers are stretchy! And hence, my idea for the "recipe" part of the pattern!

we're waiting for the software writers to fix the polls :violin
definitely recipe, but I don't think I am buying any more patterns for now, cause I've already bought 3 and only knitted 1 thing so far...

Well, it's not done yet, but I'm diligently working on it. You'll be hearing from me, because pretty soon I'll need testers.
