I've knit with the LTK 2-ply and Bartlett's 2-ply (approx. the same yd/oz.). The Bartlett's seemed stiffer and the LTK softer in comparison when I knit it. I know they soften up with use, but does the comparison stay the same over time or does one become much softer than the other?

The Bartlett is scratchy off the hank. But if you feel it natural and then feel it dyed you can already tell a difference ;) It does soften with lanolizing and wear.

well I'm probably biased, LOL, but since I'll be carrying both soon I can say I really like both of them. I do think that my farm yarn is definitely softer off the hank, and stays softer with wear than the bartletts. To be sure, the bartletts softens up a ton with wear, but it's made with a wider variety of fleeces (some of which just won't ever get soft no matter what) whereas the farm yarn is made with strictly columbia fleeces, which are far softer :) So, there's some theory behind my opinion ;)
