I started knitting a newborn sized soaker a couple of days ago, thinking it would knit up really fast. Well, first I started it on 3s for the waistband and switched to 7s for the body. I quickly realized those needles were too small because it was very stiff. So I tore it all out and started again with 5s for the waistband. Before I got 1" into the waistband I realized that I had an odd number of stitches in my ribbing. So today I had to tear it out and start AGAIN. :bang
Let's hope the third time is the charm. :violin

A toast of Kool-Aid to my Kool-Aid dyed soaker! How appropriate! :D

OMG, I had a custom soaker that did that to me. First I made the entire (yes, entire) soaker in the wrong size. Then I had to red0 the ribbing twice and then I (for reasons unknown) tried a new shaping technique and had to redo the whole thing AGAIN. I started calling it the Haunted Soaker. :yikes

I'm almost done with the decreases already! I guess the third time was indeed the charm. :D
Sheena, I think your soaker was more haunted than mine!

You are a better person than I-- I would have left the waistband in the 3's the first time around, and the second time I would have just added a stitch when I discovered the odd number and leave it at that.
I don't strive for perfection; only mistakes that I can live with. OF course, this is why I won't sell any of my stuff-- too many mistakes for that and I can't do perfect.

I think if I were giving it away I would have been less finicky, but I am trading with someone for it. :)
I did finish it! It needs leg cuffs and to be lanolized, etc. But the main part is done. I thought I did a great job with the graft, but in the photo it seems a bit obvious. I also can't figure out why the pattern of the colors changed about 1 inch into the body. I must have loosened up my tension or something.

It's adorable! Did you dye the yarn? My graft always looks more obvious in pics and I also always lose my tension on the other side. Really cute though!
Can I ask... what measurements did you use?

I dyed the yarn with cherry and lemon koolaid, for a more reddish orange.
I kind of winged (wung?) it. I made the waist 15" and increased 1" or 4 stitches for the hips. For the rise I just eyeballed it and added four extra rows after decreasing because the leg holes didn't look big enough.
Does that help at all? I was going to measure it to see how big exactly it turned out, but Niels ran off with my measuring tape yesterday and now I can't find it.

I found the measuring tape, so here are the measurments:
waist at rest 11"
waist stretched 15.5"
legs at rest 8"
legs stretched 9"
rise 16"
Does that sound like a newborn butt to you? :)

LOL, that's almost exactly how mine are sized right now... :) I think my rise is more like 14 though, lol.

Hmm, it does look a little tall to me now. Live and learn!

Small - it would fit my 11 1/2 lbs girly qs! They're 3 1/2 months, but on the smaller side: 25% for growth.
