I knit the baby a pair of shorts before she came home and the rise ended up bring to short. So I cut the waistband off and reknit the waist to be higher up. In doing this, I had to cast off at the top of the waistband. I did a basic bind off (loosely, of course). I can get the shorts on her but its a tight fit. Obvoiusly there are other bind offs in the world, which would you suggest for maximum stretch?

you can do a google search for a sewn bind off. very stretchy. I think it only works for 1x1 ribbing though?

Search for "sewn bind off". It is SOOOO stretchy and easy too. http://weebleknits.blogspot.com/2003/05/stretchy-bind-offs.html

I've used it for ribbed and rolled cuffs... maybe you're not supposed to? But it's worked fine for me. :D

I was going to suggest this same blog. She has several different stretchy bind off methods listed, but the only one I've done is the top one, the 'sewn bind off'. It works great!
