I'm in "need" of a few more needles. I need a couple of circs and some dpn's. I know I like the addi's but have heard that the Susan Bates Silverados are nice, too. I was going to go with the SB 40" circs. I'm rambling here, I am just wondering if it's worth it to pay more for the addi's even if it's a set I won't use a ton.
Also, what type of DPNs are the best? I've never used them before.

Davina~ I'm no expert, but for your dpn's get wooden ones, not metal or your sts will slide right off. :irked I use Brittany's and I like them a lot. They're the only kind I've used though (the only kind my lys carries).

Oh, never thought of that! Thanks. :) That would be so very frustrating!

Learn magic loop. Skip the DPNs. I've never used an addi, but I do like my Bates Silverado... got it from Jess at FabriConnection. They are "fast" compared to the Boyes.

Hi Davina :wave
If you're not going to use them alot, I definitely wouldn't go for the addis. For the price of addis you can get 3 other needles you may need. The only addis I have are a 16" size 4 which I use for the waistbands (and I use it all the time!)
As for the DPN's, I think it would depend on your knitting style. I must tend to knit tight, because my SB silverado DPNs get stuck sometimes. I would never consider using bamboo myself - I think for me they would be too "sticky".
I don't know magic loop - I'd love to learn but I just don't have the time. Maybe you can teach me ;)
Hope this helps!

ETA: I don't have SB silverado's, I have quicksilvers. I'm pretty sure there's a difference and I think the silverados are "slicker."
