Just wondering how that would work with them being located in NZ and all. How do you figure currency and how expensive would the shipping be?

According to their site you have to order at least 1 kilo, at $39NZD per 500g, plus $25NZD for shipping 1 kilo. So that comes to $103NZD (39x2 + 25) I use the OandA.com (http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic) currency converter and get approximately $65 for a kilo, which is 2.2lbs, so that's $29.54 per pound, or $7.38 per 4 oz. Cheaper than Marr Haven! It's probably even cheaper if you order more, since they charge $1NZD per each 50g to ship over 1kilo, which means you'd pay $20 shipping for each kilo after the first.
Does that all make sense? :?

That would be great to do as a co-op to cut the cost of shipping.

Okay....now my head hurts  LOL! But at least I have a general grasp of the cost. Thanks!

Co-op...good idea. I've been eyeing that, but it's too expensive just to try a yarn. (For my budget at least)

Is anyone actually interested in a co-op for this yarn? I ask because I am, but I've never done a co-op before, although I've been tempted to at times by some of the MMfleece ones (I am such a fabric junkie).
How does one go about getting a co-op started? :? Or prodding someone else into starting a co-op for you? 8)
LMK if this is a pipe-dream or something workable (I HAVE to find a source for wool out here - and I don't mean LB Fishermans!). :need2

I'm interested in a co-op! I'm not sure how to go about arranging one either. Maybe we need to start by contacting the company and asking if they do co-ops, and if so what the minimum purchase would be, to see if we can get enough people.

one of my favorite soaker makers lives in NZ and I've ordered from her several times. Shipping is really fast to the US, much faster than shipping from Canada!

I've never arranged a co-op before, but have done something similiar @ the retail level. The way we did it went like this:
1. Appoint someone to be in charge.
2. Take prelim "orders" - just to get an idea of quantity.
3. Talk to the company & get firm price based on amount & shipping schedule.
4.Figure approx US shipping & co-op fee.
5. Take offiial orders W/$$
6. Place order w/company
7. Distribute/ship yarn when it arrives.

I tried to do a co-op for this yarn a few months ago on the yahoogroup and I just couldn't get the minimum.
I talked to Treliske and usually you need to do 100 cones, bt they were willing to let me do 50. The most I could get upto was about 20
hth, good luck

What was the price per cone? I'm assuming that's 500g (~1lb) cones, right?

Odd, i did post a reply to this last night but it isn't showing up. SOrry I wasn't ignoring you.
I can't remeber exactly but I think it was like $35 NZD a 500 gr cone. The real savings was in the shipping which if I rememebr corectly was like $6 NZD akilo.
If anyone does put togeather a co-op I would be interested in trying it too.
Wish I had been able to get one going before....
Good Luck, kris

if they don't allow non-biz co-ops, I'd be willing to use my LTK biz license to run one, this way I can get some for myself and some to stock :)

I started a thread here (http://woolywonder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2043) to see how many cones people want. Go reply so we can count! :D
