What would be the most luxurious yarn for a soaker? Would chasmere yarn work? I have become a total yarn snob somehow and I want something super luxe so I can pet it often. :) How about Plymouth Cashmere? [/url]

Ooooooh, I've never made an entirely cashmere soaker, but I did make Bella a cashmere/merino soaker and it is :wowza. So super duper soft and it was a joy to knit with.

I have the same instincts. I posted this query on MDC a couple of months ago and I remember Jessie (of Luxe baby) saying that she had a cashmere soaker, and it was like 'putting a paper towel" over his diaper.
I just finsihed a pair of long pants that are on the blocking board drying, and I made them with kid ewe yarn (50% kid mohair, 50% wool). They have a beautiful drape and are super soft. According to my unscientific testing (as a doubler), the yarn works well (although not for a heavy wetter at night, I think, more as "day weight). I'm about to start another pair with three different handspun yarns by a local spinner (one has a bit of silk in it, and that will be reserved for some of the legs). These yarns are just so yummy, though-- the 100% wool looks and feels different than anything else commercial I've felt (and my LYS has a WIDE selection). So I think if you really want luxury, go for a handspun wool.
