Okay, so I have been thinking about what needs to happen for this drive...

Currently my committee looks like:

Amy (mamapez): coordinator
Angelina (kynd mama): graphics
Pam (pmcgary)
Ruth (mrsflipmode)
Susan (Susan_WW)
Megan (whitecalx): hubby html/databases
Danica (CraftyMommaOf2)
Katie (ravingcutie): newsletter
Melissa (mhurst)
Bonnie (mom2kbeth)

Please let me know if I have missed someone. :)

We have 4 prizes so far from:
Danica (CraftyMommaOf2)
Patti (dandelions2)
Michele (Michele)
Amy (mamapez)

What needs to happen this month:
1) We need to pick a theme! (Everyone contribute ideas!)
Pam wants this drive to be a celebration of our community and lots of fun. :sunshine She is not as interested in hard numbers as she is having a great time and really celebrating us. So a fun theme and lots of prizes seems like a great time to me. :) Some folks may be wanting to become paid members, some may be wanting to renew/upgrade, maybe businesses would be interested in becoming partners, etc...

2) Re-enlist current business members (Need a volunteer to draft up a letter to our lovely business partners)

3) Solicit new business partners (Ditto the volunteer for a letter - maybe we should wait until the theme is in place?)

4) Keep track of donated prizes (right now I have an Excel workbook with a sheet dedicated to tasks and a sheet dedicated to prizes)

Next month (once we have a theme) we can start working on things like banners/buttons, and advertising the drive. We will continue to accept prize donations right up until it is time to reward them. I am hoping most people will be able to take pictures of their prizes so we can show them off as part of our advertising. Non-members are more than welcome to help with the drive or donate prizes, even if not becoming a paid member this drive. I think Pam and maybe myself will likely be double-check the member data and making sure everything is in place for this drive.

Other things I am not thinking of? I am a little slow to respond these days, I only seem to manage good computer time every other day or so. However, I will be making this committee my priority. Please feel free to explode with ideas! :mwah

edited to make the title a little catchier! ;)
further edited to add Melissa! :sunshine ...and Bonnie!

How about something with a "neighborhood" feel/theme to it? Just spewing thoughts here....

like the knitting neighborhood, where all the "cool chicks with sticks" hang ;)
Won't you be my neighbor!?! 'okay... I need sleep... corny genes are kicking in... past midnight... uh oh..

Amy-add me to the committee list!:)

What type of prizes are people donating, knitted items, yarn, etc? I can donate something (just don't know what yet:) I don't want to duplicate someone else's prize).

A friendly neighborhood theme sounds great! What could we title it? I like the "Won't you be my knitter?" :) Keep it rolling!

Melissa, you have been added. :cheer
Duplicate prizes are not a problem, we "Just wanna have fuh-un!" So far we have:
felt bag
market bag with fruit and veggies
3 prefolds and a BSWW
WWF Mama hat

If you are short on time, you can always donate supplies (stitch markers, yarn, needles, books, etc). :D

I really want to help but I can't commit to anything long term right now. I can definitely donate a prize (maybe yarn, a book, I'll look through what I have). Any quick and dirty things that need to be done? (aside from writing letters, I stink at that!)

Ohh, I thought of another line we can use...."Who are the knitter's in your neighborhood" (you know, the Mr. Roger's song) and we can list a bunch of wahm's who are already members :)

mhurst

I'll donate yarn, stitch markers and some needles.

I love the Mr. Rogers off takes, but since we are only talking about knitters will the hookers amongst us be upset?

LOL Davina, when I first read it I immediately thought of the Animaniacs. :lol

"Who are the fiber artists in your neighborhood" loses it's charm in the "translation" We really need to include everyone though. I need some time to think....

I like Davina's idea! We could do a whole 'retro' feel/theme to it, too!! AND it includes everyone!! What about Fluffo with an afro?? :D

Remember last year's theme?

Would it be bad to keep the same theme? Does anyone else think that theme was kind of funny?

Okay, back to the button/banner/theme deal.

I think we could probably have the banner say something about the "Crafters In Your Neighborhood" and still finish up with "Put Your Money Where Your Mouse Is." Or have two different banners. What do you all think?

Pamela, what are our November dates, so our artists can get bannering (is that even a word?). :)

I think we should at least be able to advertise the entire month of October! Where does everyone suggest we advertise? It looks like we have a week to get things going!!!

Perfect! Now our banner makers know for their bit!!! :D
