:sigh: I own 29" circs, and 3 16" ones. I need to knit a really small soaker and am trying to grasp the magic loop method and I cannot!!

I went to the sites, googled and googled, I'm just not grasping this. I think I understand the first part of it,but actually trying to knit is another story!!!

i knit itty bitty soakers on 16" all of the time. i tried the magic loop thing for pants, but wasn't crazy about it. so, i don't use it........ can't help you with that. but for small soakers on circs that are too big, i just keep moving things around and pinching the flexible part. not sure tha makes sense or not. :?

guess, i'm not really helping LOL.

Hi,
Yes, I sort of understand how to utilize that first part. It actually moving from there on...lol

Ty Pam, this is the site I did get the most info on, but, again got confused and can barely move the needles to actually knit, I must be doing something wrong....

I have yet to try the magic loop or double points!!! I started out right away using 2 circs to knit small things, and like it just fine. I'm sure if I would make myself sit and learn magic loop, it might save me some time. I also need to make myself sit and learn to knit continental, but it gets frustrating when I know I can do it my way well (even though I've heard continental makes you faster, which would be nice.)

I had to go to my local yarn shop in order to get help figuring it out. Basically, you have two big loops at either end so you have loop-soakerfront-loop-soakerback.

You might want to try a needle that is longer than 29". The yarn shop told me they use 40" needles even for socks, which are smaller than soakers. I think that may be the main issue you're having.

After having worked with both dpns and the Magic Loop, the ML is far easier and less time consuming. I get tired of changing needles with dpns, and they always seem to be in my way. The ML doesn't have either of those problems.

Ya, I think getting to my LYS may be my only opportunity to getting somewhere with this ML method! Somethings I just need to have shown to me.

I reread one of the posts, and realized your pinching the cable of the 16" circ...I did'nt notice that! I will try this cause I tried to start yet another soaker with my Fisherman's and its lots of pulling and whatnot.

I have co 48 st and just maybe by pinching it,I can get away with it?
