I'm going to get at least 6 cones, but thought I'd offer ya'll in on the deal as well :)

This yarn works great for dishclothes, baby blankets, and just about any baby items. (fo rthose who have, this is great for my easy peasy, bucket hat and apron top patterns.)

Would it work for the halter patterns, too?

I'm interested. How soon do I need to decide how many and what color?

It should get gauge on the halter easily, and for the little girl's I think it's perfect. For the mama, the weight of the peaches and cream *might* get a bit to heavy and it would stretch a bit, you migh tbe better off with a mercerized cotton. But, I haven't done it so I can't say for sure. But at this price, LOL, you really can't go wrong. I think with shipping it'll probably wind up being under $7 a cone, which is a pound :)

Tana, I probably won't order until at least saturday, probably more likely monday. And you can choose from any of the colors in that link, solids, variegateds, whatever you want :)

ETA: I'm getting shrimp, camel, butterscotch, brick red, chocolate, shaded brown, shades of green, mexcali and sunflower :)Going to make matching sweaters for the boys, a simple tank for myself, and then washcloths for christmas gift baskets :knit

Wow, taht sounds like a great deal. Should we just post here what we want? Will we owe you extra shipping to send it to us if you place one big order? I assume this is too lightweight for your raglan in the round pattern?

Count me in! I really want to make some dishcloths.

:D

It is too lightweight for the raglan, but I've been working off and on on a worsted version of the raglan that it would work for.

Shipping from me to you would be additional, but I would figure that out before payment so you could do it all at once (and would ship cheapest.) I think with shipping to me and then to you, it would still be cheaper than anywhere you can get the 1# cones :brow

T-

Is this yarn similar to the Lion Cotton? That is what I am using for the mama halter and it is a little heavy. Not too bad, but heavy nonetheless.

Oooo... can I get in on this, too?

And I am going to move this to the swaparama folder, if that is ok?

I have YET to knit up the easy peasy sweater.... this will give me good reason too... I can do matching sweaters for the kids!!!!

littleturtlemama

yup, similar (if not idential) to lion kitchen cotton.

You certainly can get it, Meredith, and move us wherever you need to ;)

Would it work for this pattern? http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/PATThaiku.html

If so, I can't figure out how much I would need. They don't show any yardage amounts (unless I'm just missing it somehow which I have a tendency to do...).

hey tana :) It would be PERFECT for haiku :) I think one cone (a pund of yarn) would be enought o do up to a kid's size 6 or 8, at least. So if it's for Ben, you'd only need one, and you'd have lot sof leftovers for matching hat and such :)

From Haiku:
For the smaller size, you will need approximately 400 yds of worsted weight yarn.
For the larger size, you will need approximately 550 yds of worsted weight yarn

Simply knit a swatch in garter st to obtain your gauge and copy it into the spaces provided within the pattern. Then, do the math to obtain the appropriate number of sts for your size and gauge. Write these numbers into the "sts" spaces provided.

GAUGE = _____ sts per inch

Yeah, I know how many yards for the sweater...it was how many yards are on a cone that I was wondering about. I emailed them and their answer was 840 yards per pound. So Theresa, I could make the Haiku sweater and Bucket Hat out of that? How many yards does your bucket hat take?

littleturtlemama

Eh, that seems low on the yardage to me. But then again, it's cotton, so I'm always a bit surprised at how heavy it is, LOL.

Um, bucket hat, about 150-200 yards, I think. It's less than 4 ounces.

I think with shipping it'll probably wind up being under $7 a cone, which is a pound :)

Is just the shipping under $7 a cone? Is that for both to you and to me? So that's in addition to the cost of the cone? I'm confused now. :?

Regardless I think it's still a great deal :D Now I just have to hurry up and decide what the heck I want!

littleturtlemama

last bump, I'm ordering after lunch.

Wanted to clarify on shipping, it's not $7 shipping, LOL, the cones will average out to about $7 each with the shipping included :)
