...ravingcutie mentioned baking my yarn to get it to dry faster and I'm feeling rather impatient today ;)
I dyed my yarn yesterday evening and when I woke this morning it's still damp and I wanna use it now! So I tossed it in the oven at 200 F. I'd better not find that it combusted! :sly:

How long is this supposed to take? It's been 45 minutes already....am I being too impatient? lol I turned it inside out cause the middle was still pretty damp, but the outside was dry. Maybe another half hour?

I decided to take it out. The dry parts were feeling too dry. I guess I'll hang it up outside. Oh well, I guess the soaker will have to wait till this afternoon.

FWIW, I just hang mine in front of a fan and spread it apart as much as I can and mine always dries pretty fast. I'm afraid of baking it :LOL

It's mostly dry now so I wound it up. As soon as naptime's here I'm gonna work on that soaker. :pezfrog

What I usually do is toss my yarn in the washer on SPIN ONLY and then lay it out to dry near a ceiling fan. It dries super duper fast. Baking it would make me too nervous. :pink

I spin mine out and hang it on my yarn drying rack outside, usually dries in an afternoon that way.

I think I'd be scared to stick it in the wash - does it get all tangly?

Not if it's well tied. I usually tie it semi-loosely in two additional places with a different colored piece of yarn that's easy to find again. I lift it out of the washer by the new ties and gently shake it a bit and it straightens back into place.
The only tangling issues I encounter is when I leave the yarn down where little hands can find it, and that happens more than I'd like.

Sorry I just got to this post! I am so behind. I've been known to bake for 1 1/2 hours, BUT it's super humid in Iowa, where we are. & we've had a wet summer. The drawback to the bake method is that the middle is hard to get dry. :goodgrief

Hey! - another FIF fan! Not many people around here have even heard of them.
Yeah, the outside got baked all dry, but the inside was still wet, so I turned it inside out, but was too impatient to wait anymore. :D

Ha! I've done that. Playing with the skein to open it up helps dry it out.
