A friend emailed me and asked if I wanted a serger that a friend of his wanted to go to a good home! I'm very excited and have visions of making soaker/dress sets.
Are there any licensed patterns out there for cottage industries? I can sew but it would def take me some time to make a pattern and figure out all the sizes.

COOL! Once you get a serger, sewing is WAY more fun! And WAY faster too!

very baby is always a good one to get into. I find that no matter how many more makers pop up they are always sold out, LOL

ohhhhhhhhh, LOL
well there are a few mamas Ive seen lately offering swing top dresses with their stuff. I think all the buzz baby is the most recent one, maybe she will swing by with a suggestion.

Elizabeth that is so cool! :thumb I just recently bought a serger and I :love it!

I tried asking around for a cross back dress/swing top WAHM pattern for the FAA auctions and I couldn't find anyone who would offer their pattern. I wound up using a McCall's pattern, but I required the winning bidder to purchase a copy of the pattern (so that I would be acting as a "seamstress" rather than making the item for profit).

Hope that helps :)

hmm.. well I have some simple knitting software. I suppose I could get a schematic with that and convert it if I wanted to. Ya know, in my spare time... :brow

Elizabeth you are going to love your serger. I purchased my first serger 14 years ago to make cloth diapers for my daughter and I haven't stopped using it since. Swing dresses are pretty basic, I am sure it would be easy to make your own pattern.

Congrats!! I would recommend starting with Kwik Sew books and patterns. They are very clear, and the patterns aren't those rip-your-hair-out tissue kind... they're on paper!! THEN when you get comfortable, I am a HUGE fan of Ottobre!!

Sounds like there are plenty of sew-ers here if you need any help!! Hooray for you!!

PS- Diaper making is quite easy! Especially with a serger! Wipes and prefolds are great starter projects!

Wow, there are a lot of manuals and little pieces....but there is a video too so maybe there is hope for me :)
