Going from knit to crochet ?

I wanted to make some shorts with a knitted waistband and a crocheted bottom. I am almost done with the waistband so do I just bind off and join with sc around and around? Since I have limited time because of my wrists I don't want to have to frog any more than necessary. :nut Thanks!

No, you can actually start crocheting right off the knitting needles:)
