I was SO excited. I hadn't been there since I really got into this and started the biz. I had been up to one in Toledo, OH but I hadn't really tried this store. I had been there a few times last year when I was *cutting* my teeth on the LTK pattern.

So I'm thinking... this can be my local supplier. I can get all my yarn from her, take pics of her sheep, etc etc etc. I went in, talked with her for a while, talked about her yarn, the weights, etc. and I asked if it would be ok if I came and took some pics of the farm, and she was all happy about it. Then I said "well, can I take a pic of your sheep?" She said I could if she had any.... she has GOATS!!!!

Man.... I was SO bummed out! So we talked goat, and she said her yarns are 75 wool and 25 mohair, or 50/50.

So if anyone needs a good mohair source, I have one here.

But she did carry some other nice yarns, and she is priced right where the store in Toledo is.

Bummer, man.

And her wool is like $ 3 an ounce!!!! :hide

We drove out around the countryside this afternoon to find a mill that takes fleece from local sheep farmers and washes, cards, spins it.
They were open as the door was open, but no one was in there so I didnt get to buy some of the yarns I wanted to! But...my main goal was to feel their 100% merino (which I couldnt find) BUT...I petted some 50/50 mohair wool and OMG I could use it as a pillow! OH and the alpaca *drool*

So we stopped at a different shop on the way home. Its a coffee place/yarn store (http://www.knitandsip.com/) I needed to pick up another addi turbo and some other odds and ends to finish up projects. The owner sold me some organic wool from two sheep that used to be owned by someone else (another local farm) but she now owns them.
We talked a long time about wool and sheep (she has 20) and she was SO intrigued by the use of wool soakers :) She even offered me a job at one point LOL

So despite spending hours driving around the countryside amidst a gazillion wisconsin dairy farms...and being disappointed at blackberry ridge mill....I had a great stop at the Sows Ear (This used to be my least favorite of the 4 LYSs, but I have a new appreciate for it now!)
