I'd like to make a bear for the next round of auctions. the yarn i use does come in a HOT pink. should i do it? will anyone be interested? will people who prefer gender-specific colors for their kids feel left out? should i make a brown bear with pink scarf or hat or something instead?
I wouldn't mind my ds carrying around a pink bear but I wouldn't dress him in pink iyswim so I would say go for it in pink, it would make for a very unique and noticeable bear :) I doubt anyone would feel left out as such (and it would be their loss really)

Rebecca, wait until you see the BRIGHT blue! i love it and i have to say that blue is not normally a color i go for.

Ooooooo. Blue is my favorite color right now :dance
Marnie, you use the Plymouth alpaca boucle, right? Do you have a good source for it? I like to use it for doll hair and such once in a while and they won't give me a wholesale account unless I just resell it as is. :snow So I buy it from my LYS at $5.50 per tiny skein :snow

O.K. Wow! Have you seen what your soaker is going for?? I was so going to swoop in at the end and snatch it from everyone, but now it's out of my diaper budget range. But yay! That's a really good thing :thumb
:bow for you!

i do use the plymouth/diamond alpaca boucle. there are several sites (i've used 4 or 5 depending on what colors are available - just google plymouth alpaca boucle yarn) that sell bags for $37-40 plus shipping, which is still less than the $7.50 plus 8.65% tax i pay at my LYS, you generally have to wait 6-8 weeks to get the yarn, though.
other than that you can't wholesale it unless you sell it as is (as far as i understand it). want to wholesale it and sell it to me as-is and then i can "trade" it back to you?
I've tried bunches of different boucles and never found one better for the bears. it closes up and makes such a nice fabric.

and yeah, that auction is out of hand. i'm terrified.
(it's too small for your kids, anyway!)

I love it too. I love how you can't see the stitches and how soft it is and everything about it. The colors are so nice too. I'm going to make Levi a button down jacket for the springtime. I've only seen the grey and bright green, and the brown and taupe of my curlypurlys', what color do you think would be cute for a springy boy jacket??

current color card.
i LOVE the 75, 1629, 20 (that's the one i'm dying to make a blue bear out of!) and 2037. I've seen them all in person and the color card doesn't do them justice.
I want to make maya a cardigan, hat, and mittens set, I was thinking the 2037, 75, or 2028.
I love the 17 (that's the orange bear I made) and the 19 (the pink bear I would make for the auction) as well, but they're a bit vibrant for a whole cardi/jacket IMO.
I am deeply in love with 11 (your bunny).
if you have some kind of retailer account and are interested in selling the yarn, i am interested in buying. i could always buy from you and then send you my unused scraps or something. we're not likely to be interested in the same colors, so my unused scraps might be whole skeins of colors you need.
or if not you guys could always go to work on Jess or Theresa to get it and supply you ;)

Oh, Yeah. You don't even have to ask. I'll take what you don't need if you get it :fingersx:
