:irked :irked :irked Okay, so I've only done it twice, but both times I screwed something up. Like yesterday, I ended up short a stitch, with extra yarn b/t the two needles, BUT it wasn't a dropped stitch. I was over at a friend's house and she had to make a stitch up for me. LOL And still, there's that gap there, no matter how tight I pull. I'm thinking that maybe I just need to make my slip knot tighter at the very beginning. Does this sound like a good plan? Or like a bunch of gibberish?? :boggled :boggled :boggled :mur :ribbit :pezfrog :arrow :rant :lmdo
Okay, sorry. Smilies are too much fun.

The joins will come! It's helpful to knit a few rows (tug after each join) and then go back & tug at those joins - GENTLY! A bit of stretching the fabric should also help with th infamous ladder.
good stuff here: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/FEATtheresa.html

This is actually about dpns, but addresses the loose joins.

Yeah, I give a little tug the first stitch after I join, I still have a little space there but it doesn't show once the work is done. I also tighten it up when I weave in that thread.
Oh, and I avoid the ladder by knitting the first stitch on the new dpn together with the last stitch I just knitted at the beginning of the new row before I bring in the empty needle.
