Consider me tempted. I abandoned my soaker in progress and cast on for Tempting (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTtempting.html) last night (see my blog (http://knitblog.thefegelmans.com/)). Anyone care to join me? Everyone I've seen in this sweater looks fabulous!

Oh that is so so cute!!! I'd love to see it on a "real" person, not a model ;) You'd have to wear a strapless bra w/ that, huh? What color are you doing?

I just read your blog and saw you inquired about that sweater as a crew neck! LMK what she says! Although I am concerned that being ample in the chest will make that ribbing spread apart and not look so flattering... hmmm...

I'm in! I'm making one for my sister for her birthday in June and I'm about 6 inches into it already. It's a great project to just veg in front of the TV with.

Hey Julie ~ Did you see the other pics I linked to in my blog? Actually, even the pic in the pattern is a "real" person. That's the designer!
Cathy ~ Hey, that's cool that you're already knitting one :) What yarn/color are you using? I picked basic black just so it would go with more stuff.

Since it's for my teenage sister, I picked just Caron Simply Soft. She'll be heading off to college soon, and I don't think she'd pay attention to special washing instructions. ;) I wanted to give her something that she can just wash and wear. I picked a pale pink color because she is *so* girly and I chose a hot pink ribbon with zebra stripes to jazz it up a bit.

I might be persuaded to try one....I wonder what inexpensive yarn would work for it...Any thoughts ladies? (I have lots of wool but I am betting that isn't the greatest given the shape of it)

it;s cute, but I know that ribbing does not hug my body in any sort of flattering way, LOL ;)
For yarn, I'd say cheap-o would be lion brnad microspun or cotton ease :)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It would stretch out across my boobs and not look flattering, iykwim.
I've been keeping my eye out for a nice summery sweater thing to knit for myself. I'd have to love it a lot though to make it for me ;)
Theresa, weren't you writing a pattern for some wrap shirt thing??

I think I am in...if it looks bad I just won't wear it out of the house......I am going to use yarn from another top I made and hated....the tank from knitting last year - it was the worst fit ever- even after frogging it once....I think the yarn needs to be something else.

mmmmm tempting.
I :love Love :love that designer! She's local to me and in a SnB that I'm subscribed to but never attend. She was also on a couple episodes of knitty gritty on DIY! Isn't she just the bomb? Check her funky website. I am *not* a stalker.

This one has been on my list! I may get some yarn for this one, too, when I finally pick some up for the Clapotis!

Very cute, but I don't think it would be very attractive on my soon to be post-partum body. Maybe next summer after some major body work!

I so LOVE that sweater!
I have had the pattern printed out for weeks now but haven't started it yet.
My oldest dd has it started in a super pale pink acrylic, I think she has 3"-4" done so far.
I know someone who made one using Wool Ease. I can't wear wool and have thought Cotton Ease might be a good choice.

Oh yeah, it's in the pile-o-designs, somewhere between the girl's bikini and the playdress, right after the baby kimono

LOL! Well, I had a vision tonight of the sweater/ top I want. Short sleeve, fitted (hourglass shape to accentuate the waist) and wraps around the front. I'm going to draw a pic... then you write a pattern, ok?

Made some progress last night :)

I'm really liking how the Cotton-ease is knitting up. It's really soft, stretchy and drapey :bigups: :bigups:

I started mine this afternoon....I am really hoping I didn't make it too small! (I measured and am dead on for the 36 inch chest ---was afraid a 40 would fall off me!)
I might post a pick tonight..Of course I also need to post the perfection pants picture.
I love it too. But I know myself, and I wear cotton shirts in the spring. But it is oh so tempting :D
I would do a LTK wrap shirt though :pink

The cotton-ease is working really well for this pattern. I can't wear any animal fibers because they make me itchy, no matter how soft they are. Plus, I really need to have clothes I can throw in the washer and dryer or they won't get worn.
I've got the sleeves done and am just going back to add a few inches to the body. The designer is 5'0 and I"m 5'6" so I decided I'd need a little extra length.
Any pics Pam?

Ha no pics (I did get the perfection pants pics up)
I am about to needing to do the sleeves..
Um, it won't look good until it gets laundered
...I was eager to get started and didn't let the yarn relax properly after being "frogged" from the other knitty.com top it was in a former life..

Mine is about as far as yours...And I am getting frightened that I not have enough yarn to finish it....
Honestly I will try and get some pics up of it..Mine is lavendar - it is some cotton/acrylic blend that I got really inexpensively at Wally world..
Say did you have a challenge when connecting the sleeves? I had to turn mine wrong side out in order to get it so that they followed the pattern...?
This knit really fast until I got to the part w/ the sleeves connected to the body...I so want to see what it looks like...
If it seriously loooks like I will run out of this yarn I am going to put in a stripe - I have two shades of blue and a rose....If that looks like what I have I will probably ask your input as to what color to do...

Looks good Karen! Mine's taken a back seat for now to some other projects. But I'll get it done eventually. ;)

I am out of my big ball of yarn...
I have some "bits" left but doubt I have enough to finish it .....
I know if I need to add a color I should just put a stripe in so it looks intentional....but I really don't want to do that....
I am either going to wear this thing everyday or hate it like everything else I knit up with this darned yarn (I have two apron tops for hte girls out of this stuff.....Hmmm, I wonder if the smaller one is too small and I could frog it for the yarn)

WEll it happened last night...I ran out of yarn...tried to talk the girls out of their Apron tops....Before I could convince them I did a little straightening and guess what? Yep, I found another ball of the stuff...I suspect it will be just the right amount to finish the sweater......
I have about an inch to go b4 the eyelet rows...

Did you finish, Pam? Mine nearly ended up in the trash (see my blog), but I did some emergency needle work and was able to save it:

Oh very pretty. Mine is in the dryer as I type. B/c of being made out of a frogged mistake I found a lot of wonky stitches. I will try and post a picture tomorrow....
Yours fits better for sure.

DUMB question ahead...
for the chest measurement, do you measure around your rib cage under the "girls" or at the fullest part of the "girls"?
Thanks!
smillerky
05-04-2005, 06:18 PM
I've always thought that the chest measurement is taken around the fullest part of your "bust".
HTH!

Well, I've finally gotten this out of my WIP basket and I've done the sleeves this weekend and several inches of the yoke. But I'm all out of yarn now. :( So I'm trying to decide if I should use a complimentary color or go out and find the pink again.

Thanks again, ladies.
Melissa - it's around the girls, lol. But I found the pattern very generous, at least with this yarn. I'm not getting the stretching/shaping effect, but I guess we don't all get to be Sophia Loren. Oh, and it was great fun meeting you! We'll have to get together again soon :)
Marnie - thanks :) I'm really happy I've started knitting for myself. Playing with different yarns and different patterns is really helping to keep knitting fresh and fun for me :)
Cathy - I've seen some two-tone Tempting's that were really cute.
Oh, and I finally got to debut the whole outfit the weekend. Got lots of compliments too. My mil's boyfriend kept saying, "You could knit those and sell them!" Hmmm.... yes, I really need to start another knitting business, lol. Not to mention it's a copyrighted pattern. No sense explaining these things to him, though ;)
