Ok mamas, I need your cloth solution to........

DrumRoll Please....

Diarreah!!

Your tools include:

Premium Prefolds
Snappi's
DiaperPins
Bummis Super Whisper Wraps
Wool Covers
Little Lamb All-in-ones
Wonderoos
Disposables

The disposable leaked all over me yesterday, so not my first choice. My goal is to contain the poo, and not wear it! We've done snappi'd prefold but the bummis covers are dwindling because they are getting soaked with every bout of diarreah. We see the doctor in half an hour, so hopefully we can figure out something to make him better... until then, can you help me keep it contained!?!

Prefolds, with the jelly roll or side wall fold worked for us.

Lay it out under the bum and roll the sides in until it's trim enough through the crotch. You're creating a sort of "rolled gusset". Think of it as a poop dam that allows the prefold to soak it up before it hits the diaper directly. Some may still get out, but this was a big help to us during watery poo teething phases.

Disposables suck at soaking anything up, IMO!

Off to try the poo dam... :-)

The disposables were horrid. I put them on to go to the hospital because I didn't know what we were in for, big mistake! I was wearing poo before I came home. I had forgotten how horrid they are, used them the whole time with DS1.

I'll report back how that worked for us... more ideas??

TY Katie ;)

Put a fitted on over a jelly rolled prefold? Maybe double layering can help - use an AIO so no need for an extra cover.....

I sure hope he's feeling better fast. You poor thing!

I second the jellyroll fold. When dd had rotavirus we used that and a infant pf as a doubler inside to help catch all the watery crap before it hit the cover.

Fitteds also rocked. But I had to double wash them after because the sinky poo just went into every fiber and sat there.

you don't have any fitteds? you need some!

fitteds with wool pants (or long cuffed soakers) worked like a DREAM for us. got a little diarrhea on the soaker on 2 occasions (fitted too big for her) but nothing else. and i'm talking 10 days of pure liquid hell.

the wonderoos are going to be about as bad as the disposies - you need something absorbent to be the first line of defense.

I know it doesn't help immediately, but if you can sew, you can turn your prefolds into prefitteds pretty easily. That way you get the mess containment of a fitted, without shelling out the $$$ for them. I'm slowly turning all my prefolds into prefitteds and if I can do it, anyone can!

Do you have any directions?

I know Rowena___ from the woolsoaker group has instructions on her blog something like www.rostitchery.com in the archive for October? Don't quote me because I'm going from memory here.

I knew someone was gonna ask! I'm looking for the links now!

Here's one...

And this is the one I used...

And here's some pics of how one turned out...

I dyed the prefold and put fleece down the center for comfort and easy clean up. Have to say I'm a better knitter than seamstress, but they work fine! I tweaked the pattern a little to get a better fit on ds.

our savior has always been alexis featherlite covers!
We must have gotten the best batch before being discontinued because those suckers hold EVERYTHING in.

Thanks so much for posting your pics of the prefitteds. How do you like them with the fleece inside. Does it make poopy dipes easier to dump?

I've had great success with Especially for Baby nylon pull on covers from BRU. They're super cheap and available locally. HTH :)

I really wish we had more Nylon or Pull covers right now. DS has the Rotavirus, we just got out of the hospital on Wed. I went ahead and used the sposies because I didn't feel like weighing my diapers before I put them on him, then weighing them after. Every time he pooped I had to change the sheets, his pants, socks and my clothes (since he slept on me for the most part). We went back to cloth as soon as we got home and he are still having issues. Nothing holds in his morning poo.

I washed almost my entire stash the day before we went to the hospital, and I already have 2 dirty covers. I have one ProWrap, but I have the other 10 I use to have to charity a long time ago. The ProWrap was nice but we still had a little leakage. I have had great success with the newspaper fold and the prefitteds.
