So, after having realized that all my favorite soakers right now are crocheted, I decided to try teaching myself to crochet :rightyho: a couple of weeks ago.
BTW, thanks so much to everyone who responded to my crochet ribbing question, that was a BIG help! :heart
Well, I think.... :didit
I used Cascade Eco wool that I dyed and I made up my own pattern as I went along, measuring my babe to make sure it was large enough.
Here's the results: :bigups:

I'm so happy! :D Now I think I'm going to crochet a matching skirt to go over it; ooh, this is soooo addicting...

Yay! Crochet rocks! :bigups: I never have to use a drawstring when I use that ribbing for the waist. It holds it's shape in a way that knitted ribbing doesn't. Except Marnie's pleats (I looove knitting too, so no flaming me knitters!) :superb

Yep, that drawstring is entirely gratuitous, lol, but I wanted to try crocheting one and so couldn't resist -- it will come in handy to hold the skirt to the shorts, though, won't it? ;)

Aw, you ladies are so sweet to let me share my excitement! :heart You know, I really do love crocheting, now that I understand how it works, although I won't tell you how many times I frogged various parts of these shorts until they came out the way I wanted them to, lol...
The sc stitches are just so nice and solid and THICK, perfect for my heavy wetter kiddos, and the ribbing is just AWESOME, so stretchy and yet firm. And the scalloped edge was way fun to do, as well! :D
Oh, as for the colorway, I used Kool-Aid in Orange, Grape, Pink Lemonade, and Tropical Fruit Punch, I think? Crochet seems to give it more of a splotchy finish, instead of those definite stripes you get with knitting, but I don't mind it. I was going for sunset colors, but they ended up paler than I had planned, so I've renamed this colorway Rainbow Sherbet, lol!
Ah, the rush of a completed project! :D I rewarded myself today by heading out to my LYS and picking up some Plymouth Outback in a berry and turquoise colorway to get started on my next project: a pair of Perfection Shorts! Wish me luck learning the Channel Island Cast-On!

wow, those look great! I love the style and the colors!!
I love crocheting, and it works best for my fire-hose boy too ;)
it looks like they were worked in the round, as opposed to seaming the sides ... care to share how you did the crotch? ;)
