:help The tip of one of my bamboo needles appears to have a little "hangnail" and yarn keeps catching on it. Is it safe to just lightly sand it smooth? I've never operated on knitting needles before :yikes

I actually broke one of mine. Dh used a pencil sharpener to get a point on what remained. I think we then used an emery board to smooth it. That might be less "gritty" than sand paper.

You should be good w/really fine grain sand paper. The kind you smooth freshly refinished surfaces with - 400+ grit or so. (# courtesy of my dh)

agreed...one of my plymouth bamboo dpns did that (actually right out of the package, not from actual use) the LYS wouldnt take it back or even exchange one single needle and told me to sand it down.
