I'm new to knitting, and working on the Fern & Faerie soaker pattern. I plan to do the seaming at my knitting clinic next week. I have to choose between seaming and grafting. Which looks better? Which is more difficult? The difficulty doesn't matter so much, because the lady that teaches my clinic is a knitting Jedi Master, so she can help me make it turn out ok. Any thoughts...

I'm a fan of grafting. I think seams get in the way when you use the garment and if I can graft something instead, I'm much happier with it.

learn to graft. Grafting kicks butt. Also known as kitchener stitch... see our technique links forum. xoxo pam

seams suck (IMNSHO, LOL!) They don't stretch nearly as well as grafting, and they pucker and look, well, fugly, LOL!

repeat after me: "kitchener good, seam bad"

Seaming is frustrating. Kitchener = pretty & relaxing(Pam might say boring)

kitchner good, seam bad.....kitchner good, seam bad... OK, I got it now, now to practice on those gauge swatches that have been sitting in my knitting bag. Knew there was a reason to hold on to them.
