Seeing my babes in lovingly handmade clothes is very gratifying. The women here have been instrumental in helping me make that a reality.

Hi! I am Gena (25) mommy to Tristan (15 months) wife to Chris (26). We will have been married for 4 years in May. I started knitting on mothers day last year, Walmart knitting supplies and a book was my mother's day present. I haven't stopped sence. Though I have yet to buy anything from Walmart myself, but bless my DH for actually buying me something on his own (with a friend's wife's help). I started knitting so I could make my own darn soakers! ;) I am now turning into a bit of a yarn snob and am definitly a yarn addict.
I frequent MDC under this username as well. We are TTC so hopefully I will be knitting a ton of tiny soakers and pants soon. :fingersx:

Hi all! I'm Becky (31), wife to Billy (35 next month), and mom to Emily (11), Noah(6), Matthew (4 in April), and Chloe (1).
I am a SAHM and have been knitting for about 6 months, and crocheting for years. I also am self taught. Of course now, I want to knit everything I see and my problem is not having enough time to knit everything I want to knit! I know many of you can relate.
I really love knitting and have toyed with the idea of becoming a WAHM after I have a little more experience under my belt. Right now I am trying different soaker patterns to see which I like best, and which looks best after I have gotten ahold of it. LOL

Hi, I'm Kim. Wahm to SitonKnits.
I am 30 (almost 31!!) and married to DH Fred (43 today). We have 3 kids--Paige (mine with an ex) who is 11, Anthony-4, and Dominic--just turned one.
We live in the midwest and I'm trying to talk dh into moving somewhere more exciting.
I learned to knit when I was about 8 or so. My mama taught me, but really didn't pick up my needles seriously until about 10 years ago. It's an addiction and I'm a serious yarn and needle snob.

Hello, all you wild and Wooly Knitters!
I'm Katie, mama to Emma Marie and Grace Anastasia. They're my twin girlies and are 10 months old! Sigh. I love them dearly, and am kinda sad that they're growing up. They do all kinds of cute things now: give each other kisses, tickle one another until they giggle and carry on long conversations. Check out their capers on their blog (www.xanga.com/ravingcutie)
I am rather boring in comparison. I am 24, and will be celebrating my 3 year wedding anniversary to DH (24) this May. It's been 7 years since we started dating & I feel O-L-D. We live in a cozy bungalow in the midwest. Soon it will be spring and I will be putting in my herbs and salsa garden. Yum!
My mother tried to teach me to knit when I was about 8. However, she learned to knit from a gal who was 8 1/2 months pregnant, and thus holds her needles at a right angle over her "stomach". So, I am mostly self taught because she forms her stitches in a fairly interesting way. Up until I started knitting soakers for the girls (during my pregnancy) I much preferred hooking to knitting, but now I'm fairly addicted to knitting.
I am the creative knitter at www.BungalowBuns.com. Hillary (RufusBeans) is my friend & talented wool dyer. Despite my ad banner I've been having a hard time keeping her hanpainted yarn instock. I also stock at www.KnittedsAndFitteds.com and am very blessed to be a part of that group of creative women.
I have several handles: bungalowmum, kfranceschi, and ravingcutie - all created at different points in my life.

My dh is a nerdy scientist and I am a sahm. I have a B.S. from MSU and a M.A. from SDSU. We live under the forboding shadow of Montana State University.
I've knitted lots of hats, toys, and purses. Right now I am working on a new soaker for Katya and several change purse for gifts for my friends on International Woman's Day (March 8th). Seems lately I've been doing more dyeing than knitting though. :butterfly

03-02-2005, 11:29 AM
hi, i'm marnie. i'm a partner with my husband marco in our web applications and hosting company. i also knit bears ( http://curlypurly.com ) as well as clothing, soakers, etc. I don't have an online store, i just go by word of mouth. right now i have some bears in a local shop and this spring i'll have some clothing in a different shop, if i ever finish any of it.
Mostly i stay at home and hang out my my daughter Maya, who is 22 months old and keeping me very much on my toes. she's a total joy to be around, though she exhausts me daily.
my main focus in life, though, is the volunteer work i do with an organization that is working hard to change the world. small task, huh? anyway, it's my passion.
I discovered the online communities at delphi and mdc when i was pregnant and living in italy, and they helped me though a tough time in a new place. since that time, the thing that strikes me most about this online community is the spirit of generosity and giving. it's amazing to me to see how "charity" is almost trendy, and i think it's just wonderful that it's "cool" to donate time and money.
So there you have it. oh, and i'm a fairly novice knitter, having learned from a friend's mom when i was pregnant and on modified bedrest in late 2002. i've clocked a lot of hours at it, though :)

Hi I am Melissa (33) mama to Charlie (2+yrs) and expecting another one THIS MONTH! and wife to Charlie. We will celebrate our 5 yr. wedding anniversary this fall and have been together for 10 years.
I am a WOHM (DH and I work together). I have been knitting for approximately 5 years. I stopped for awhile and picked it back up to knit for DS. I like to knit soakers/longies/shorts but have recently started to branch out and now mostly knit other items such as felted mocs, sweaters, hats and scarves.
I have become a yarn snob and mostly buy online from LTK. It's kinda sad, but DH knows Theresa by name. I usually refer to her as "my yarn chick" and he says "Oh Theresa". I might have a problem :D

Hi, I am Yvon (28), mom to Storm (DS, 26MO) who is everything his name suggests & a mommas boy too! & Fee (see siggy for pronounciation) who will be 1 by the end of the month, every bit a girl, already bossing big brother around.
DH Wilfred & I will be married for 1 year, 11 days after Fee's birthday. And we have a little dog, his name is Bob, he's under the impression that he is a cat. Sleeps all day & likes to do that in the warmest place available. Not allowed anywhere near "the stash" though!
I am a WAHM, mostly sewing (bet you didnt know that!) natural products for infants & toddlers for the growing Dutch market. I knit for relaxation & have been since I was a chil & will make pretty much anything. I only learned to crochet 2 years ago.
By trade I am an industrial design engineer, I still do some freelance work from the home. At the moment I am working on the babystuff for this: http://www.Anndur.nl
In the fall we hope to be TTC again, were aiming for 1 baby every even year ;-)
Being Dutch means I am from Holland...The Netherlands...you know...Amsterdam, Europe ;-)

I'm Shannon, married to Mike, mother to Jack (2.5) and expecting a baby girl anytime in the next month. I'm a lawyer by trade, currently working for a judge (more family friendly than practice). I live in a smallish town in Montana where we're lucky to have two LYS.
I've been knitting for about a year and a half. I was originally inspired by the LTK soaker pattern, but since I have trouble following directions, I have yet to make a soaker that goes by the pattern. Lately I make mostly scarves and socks, since they're the only things that fit my oddly shaped body.

Okay, seriously, this made me almost pee my pants, LOL! DH got very freaked out when a string of hubby's were calling me before Christmas (to order yarn and gifts for their wives) I think he'd die if he knew I was on a first-name basis with the Dh's,
Npe, he's not the slightest bit of a jealous-kind-of-guy. Nuh-hun, not MY dh ;) It's so funny, cuase it's only with people he doesn't knwo (like hubby's of online customers) but with the in-real-life guys I interact with, he could care less. He's a freak, i swear!

What a great thread! Yay!
I'm Jesse. I'm married to a guy named Mike and we share parenting to three amazing goddess girls: Violet Anastasia is 4.5, Zoe Star is 2 and Eleanor Paige is 4 mo. I'm a midwife-wannabe and am in the process of being a childbirth educator. I'll become a doula next year, I think.
When I quit my job after Zoe was born, I wracked my brain for how I could earn money from home. I tapped into my talents and came up with photography and freelance theatre classes. I founded a small theatre company (and I mean small!) and met with some success in photography (got published in Mothering). I find myself being drawn to more hands-on work, though, and I recently started selling my wares on knittedsandfitteds.com and began the road to midwifery. I also do some graphic design on the side. OH, and I write. I have a guest column for a newspaper here in town. It sounds comical, doesn't it? That is why, after people ask me what I do, I say I'm The Freelance Mama.
I started knitting when Violet was 2, so 2.5 years ago. Knitting didn't feed my soul until I quit smoking and needed something to do with my hands and heart. Knitting filled the void and probably saved my life.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I am feet in the Fiber Arts Avengers. I'm training for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, with the fundraising help and moral support of the amazing women on this board.
Had enough of me?!

Aloha!
I'm Annie (25) and I've been married for 5 years to my lovely dh Hiroshi (31) We have three little beans - Kobe (5), Makai (2) and little miss Violet, who is 2 months old as of yesterday
Hmm...can you guess where I live, lol. I reside on the lovely island of Oahu (the green side). We've been here for a couple years; I'm originally from Northern California.
I've been crocheting since I was about 5, and knitting since about 8. However, I didn't really get into them until I was in college (guess what my major was? :).) I also work as a massage therapist, have been for 7 years and have worked mainly in the spa industry as well as with terminaly ill cancer patients. A couple years ago, I decided to forego my college major of botany and switched to nursing - so that's what I'm doing (although its on hiatus for a bit because I keep having kids)
So...that's me. I'm also 3_opihi at MDC. My posts are often short and sweet because I usually have two little dimplets hanging off the breasts...
(( An opihi is what we call a limpet here in the isles; we also use the term for little velcro babes- if you were wondering what the heck it meant, ))
I'm toying with the idea of becoming a WAHM, mainly because people are constantly asking me to knit them a soaker - and dh says I better start making some money off them if I'm going to be buying yarn all the time, lol. I'm trying to decide what pattern I'd like to use...

i'm stephanie, mommy to willa blue, 7 months and evan, 4 1/2. i've been with my dh for 12 years.
i've been knitting for about 2 months but lurked around for quite a bit before that. on my first trip to my lys, the store owner remarked that i sure knew a lot for someone who didn't knit. kinda funny. i've made 2 of the perfunctory scarfs. now i'm just finishing up my first pair of wonderpants (the crotch is KILLING me) and i'm also working on a large felted tote. initially, i begun knitting to make soakers but now i find that there is so much more that i wanna knit.
I am Melissa. I have one son Elias, who turned 2 in January. I live in NYC. Right now I am a stay at home mom.
:D
I'm Ruth, wahm to Tommy who'll be 3 in June and Millie who is 8 months. I've been married to dh Mark for 3 years next week (so yes I was 6 months pregnant when we got married).
We have our own business selling nappies on the web (and through ebay which is where we do most of our business at the moment). Before I had children I worked in admin after dropping out of University after 2 years of my degree. I eventually hope to train as a herbalist and lay midwife.
I've been knitting since I was about 4 but never made much until I had Tommy and started making things for him (I think I prefer small, quickly achievable projects). I taught myself to crochet last year but definitely prefer to knit.
Oh, and we live in England.

I'm Tana. I started knitting last May when I got a speeding ticket and thought I needed something to do in traffic class. My first project was an LTK soaker. Now Ben (20 months) only wears wool longies or Ribby Wraps during the winter and wool shorts in the summer. I am married to Steve (almost 3 years now). My current fetish is socks - my goal is to knit enough pairs that I only wear hand knit socks. I've also knit a couple pairs for dh and ds. I'm a SAHM and we live in Nebraska, where I hope we will still live six months from now. Steve is a Seed Analyst for a crop seed company which was bought by Monsanto this week, so sometime in the next two months we'll know if he still has a job. So right now my knitting is my magic pill for keeping my stress level under control.

I was naughty and had Shaylin out of wedlock. Shoot, I had her out of relationshiplock.
It's not so much the out of wedlock bit - more the not quite so princess dress w3ith a humongous bump - not how i imagined it would be!! Mind you it sounds as if Yvon got married 11 days after she had Fee - that's going some imo.

Here you go: http://home.planet.nl/~bosse165/images/rest/trouwtekenen.jpg So both babies out of wedlock but with the husband to be. Not in a dress either, too cold & not the right body & mind for that. Everybody wore clothes that I made when I was overdue with Fee. 11 days is a loooooooong time when you're bored.
As bad as I am at being pregnant. I deliver & recover quite easily. I was sewing an order 2 days after Fee was born at home on the couch ;-)
Oh, we moved 2 days after getting married...that was the whole reason we did get married in fact.

I'm Rebecca aka mom mom (25), I'll be 26 on St. Patty's day. I was working as an editor in Seattle when I met dh at work, he proposed to me on our first date and then our company went bust, so we got married and started travelling the country by train for a good while. I got pregnant with Eleanor somewhere between Philadelphia and Boston, so we decided to move to Oregon where I grew up. We live in a "tourist" town near a large mountain very close to delicious berry farms, and I go into town a few days a week to make toys and dolls with my sister. I love all crafts, especially crochet and I'm learning to love knitting as well. And I love the wwforums ladies :inlove:

Hello everyone!
I'm Rae(29 in May), married to dh(30 this month). We have 3 adorable babies, Jack(7), Christy(5), and Tobias(16 months). We will celebrate our 8th anniversary this month. We are a homeschooling, AP, NFL family. You know, cloth diaper, breastfeed, co-sleep, home birth, no circ, no vax, yada, yada, yada......................... Tobias was born unassisted into my arms. :love
I learned to knit when I was pregnant with Tobias(Summer 2003). I kept looking at LTK and could never get a custom slot. LOL! I wanted a soaker for my wee one! Finally in a fit I ordered the LTK soaker pattern, and 3 books form Amazon.com. Knitting Basics, Knitters Almanac, and Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles. I learned from the Knitting Basics and the LTK Soaker was my first project. I love all things LTK. :love I LOVE the WonderPants(took Pam's class)and I am making my first pair of Wondershorts right now. Toby doesn't wear regular pants. He wears either LTK Longies, Wonderpants, or LTK soakers. This summer I hope to have lots of Wondershorts for him to wear.
I have started knitting things unrelated to diapering. I am working on the Claptotis, I have made a few LTK Easy Peasy's, LTK felted mocs, LTK moc booties, LTK Fluffy Felted Dolly, and I can't remember what else. I have the LTK Raglan pattern and yarn but they probably won't get made until Fall. I am working on a pair of socks.
I am a yarn and needle snob. :hide I LOVE knitting and am addicted to it and buying yarn. :fluffo
I love this forum and the ladies here! :heart

Hi! I'm Susan (32), mama to Nicole (17 mos) and a new bean on the way (due 9/2), and wife to John since 5/00. I've been knitting since I read about wool soakers online a few months before Nicole was born.
I am the WAHM behind Wonderful Woolies (http://www.wonderfulwoolies.com). I really enjoy knitting and I look forward to getting over pg exhaustion so I can get back into it :)

I'm Cathy (25), married to Jay (28 ) and mom to Kaylin (2.5). Jay and I will have been married 4 years this year! :D
I'm currently a SAH/WAHM. I sew and sell cloth mama pads and am adding a few more items here and there as I can. Eventually I'd like to add some hand knit items as well. If mommying and working didn't keep me busy enough, we're in the middle of trying to sell our house and relocate.

I'm coming to this late, and I'm mostly a lurker, but thought I should introduce myself. I'm Katherine (28), wife of 4 years to Chris (32), and mom to Emma Kate (17 mos.). We also have two Labradors and a cat. I WOH full-time and hate every minute of it. I have been knitting for about 6 months, seriously for about 2, and have finished 2 soakers and am putting the finishing touches on my first pair of WonderShorts! I'd like Emma Kate to mostly wear wool this summer.

Hi, there,
I'm Cynthia. I'm 42 (43 on Friday!) and have two children -- George, 3 1/2, and Charlotte, 16 months. I think of myself as a stay at home mom, but I also telecommute part time -- I'm a librarian, and have been for about 16 years. I've been knitting for over 20 years, but just started knitting soakers and wool shorts a few weeks ago. We live in Oklahoma, so it's fun to knit something that Charlotte will really wear. I've made sweaters for both children but they are not an everyday necessity.
Really the biggest challenge for me so far has been figuring out this forum software. It's like there are a hundred conversations going on at the same time; I haven't figured out how to stay on top of them without spending all my knitting time reading.

Hi, I am Lisa, age 32 and I have a son who is 2. We have been trying to have #2 for a very very long 16 months.
I started knitting in February of 2002. I wanted to learn to knit for years but I couldn't figure out how to do it. I really wanted to make a wool soaker so my dh got me the "Stitch and Bitch" book and I sat down during naps to learn how to knit. It actually came pretty easy to me yet I am still afraid to try anything "hard"
My other interests include quilting (since 1996) and making felt animals, and Waldorf dolls.

I finally figured out what I was doing wrong tonight in this post... I'd read everyone's post including looking at your blogs, picture albums, dwadling through every store or site mentioned and then bam.... two hours later I'd be no closer to introducing myself. Well, now I figured I should just post first and read later!!
My name is Michele and I have lived in Massachusetts for the past five years by way of Chicago and upstate New York. I have only one four legged child- Gabby the calico cat- and have just begun to look into single parent adoption. I am a teacher by trade, but have had to take an extended sabatical from that due to a few chronic illnessed that crept up and stayed after I had my gallbladder out.... very long story. In the mean time, I type up papers for college kids in the area and assist at my local church. I heavily believe in the barter system!! This all pays the bills, but often is anything less than exciting or all that fulfilling. So how I got here...
Last month, on the BabyBargainsBoard, I saw a photo of a member's long wooly wonders from a class she has just taken here at the WW site. Intriqued, I just had to learn how to make those! But first I had to learn how to knit and I have and I can purl too. Now, I am working on baby hats for the five shower gift baskets sitting on my kitchen table then a scarf and maybe by the summer... which I am now convinced will never come here with all the snow ...I will have gotten up the courage to use those scary looking circular needles.
Now this all adds to a better balance and very quickly I have amassed yarn... began with Lion Brand Wool-Ease, quickly followed by some Peace Fleece, then a win at the Fluff Factory auction and also some For the Cure Yarn... choosing tthe last two in what color skein was mighty challenging as I like them ALL!!!!
You'll find I lurk a lot more than I post and when I post it gets wordy!
Now back to reading....
Blessings,
Michele
Welcome, Michele!
Bwuaaahaha, you've already been sucked under by the lure of the yarn. :brow It's so much easier when the victims don't resist! heehee
I'm amey - mom to two boys (4.5 and 20 months). We live in Arizona. I learned how to knit as a kid but was unimpressed with the examples I had (my grandmother, a dear woman, makes acrylic sweaters and bootie slippers - I don't like the feel of acrylic nor the style of her clothing), so I ended up giving up pretty quickly.
I started again a couple of months ago when I realized that circular knitting is not rocket science. I've made a couple of soakers and am currently working on a (very belated) Christmas present for my step mom - a cabled scarf that is also turning out to be far less tricky than I had imagined.

I mostly lurk here, but took Pam's Wonderpants class this fall, and learned so much! I now have confidence to attempt most simple sweater, hat, soaker patterns. Hey, I can ML, know a half dozen increases, the same for decreases, and can graft.
I am 33, married to Jason (33) since 1998. We have our lad, Forrest who is one year, 5 days old today! Most of my knitting projects to date have been for Forrest, but I want to branch out into socks, which I can make for all of us.
I WOHM, I'm a neonatologist in an academic hospital and have varying feelings about that day to day. Its the practical thing right now, though. DH is a SAHD, (he's also a surgeon, but is taking a break to be home with DS)
I need to get more involved here, since too much time at MDC leads to unneccessary diaper purchasing.
I love yarn, and have decided that if you have a 40in Addi Turbo, you can knit anything! Magic loop rocks! Thanks Pam, you knitting Yoda you.

The yoda thing had me roflmao - so true - I can hear it now 'use the force [username:5a868bcd59]'.
Be warned though Tarah, spending too much time at Wooly Wonder Forums leads to even more unneccessary yarn purchases than diaper purchases at MDC (and they don't stop when your kids get to 3 years old either).
Bigups to your dh for being a SAHD too :bigups:

Hi!
I'm Leah (33), married to Andy (34) for almost 11 years, and mom to Kendall (7), Brooks (will be 5 in 18 days, as he tells everyone), and Carson (10 mos). I started crocheting 6 years ago, only attempting baby afghans. All before I found cloth diapering....
When I was pregnant with Carson, I found the LTK pattern, and decided to teach myself to knit. Now I love knitting, and have made a few cool felted bags and such, too.
I joined this board when I decided I had to learn how to make perfection pants (saw pics on MDC). Thanks for everyone's help!
I agree that I need to pay more attention to this forum than the diapering boards to curb the diaper spending!

My name is Rebecca (29--going to be 30 in October :ohno ).
My husband and I have been married for almost 3 years and I have a 7 month old son, Johnathon aka John.
I have been crocheting for a long time and finally started branching out into knitting last year. I mostly just made scarves and hats but I made 2 LTK Ribby Wraps recently and am almost finished making my very own custom made longies -- with much help from someone of course.
