I assume you are crocheting in a spiral, right? If you want to use color and have it look even, you need to end each rnd with *join w/ sl st to top of first st* Then to start the next round you ch 1, then crochet in the same st as the join and go your merry way around.

When you want to start a new color, finish of the old one after completing a round by joining with a sl st to the 1st st. Then join the new color.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you need more clarification.

guess i did not word that right.
Its not the color part.
what i did was sc around but then wanted to divide for the legs...which then is sc flat.
but the sc's look different when around vs. flat.
kwim?
the flat form squares kwim

ah - as long as you go back and forth with the crotch it will look different. You could finish off every row so that you are always crocheting on the right side, but then you'll have a bunch of ends to deal with and that's no fun.

I kinda like that it's different. Not so much when you just show the picture.. but with it on, it looks like it's suppose to be that way. But, if it really drives you nuts, you could always do a color change there.. and then you wouldn't even be able to tell the stitches look different becaseu teh focuse would be on the color change. I always wondered why they look different when you do it in the round than they do flat. Strange.

The fit looks AMAZING!

i'm with baysmom. i like the change. not sure why, but it just looks cool to me. i've been toying with a crochet pattern, but i don't think i'm a good enough hooker to write one. :LOL

It looks different because when your are crochetting in the round you are only seeing one side of the stiches.. (sorta like knitting stockinette- all purls or all knit) but when you are crochetting flat you see both the front and back of the stitches alternating between wich row it is..

IPersonally don't know of any way to get around that one..

They do look fabu though..

ok trying to post again...having internet troubles..........I have to find my chicken scratching from how i did it but i am going to try another ...but flat.
I really really love the fit on him and am really loving the extra thickness of crocheted soakers.
