I'm starting this thread to try and keep track of what we need and what is in progress for the Fiber Artists Avengers:
We need artwork! I had a vision of a Superwoman-esque (think comic book) woman in cape and running shoes (and pig tails), holding her knitting needles in her fist like shes about to fly off (think superman in his "take off" pose). On her needles or on the small bit she has knitted so far will say, "Stitchin for a Cure" or something like that. On her shirt where the S would be will be our name.
I emailed a guy who does the artwork for a local theatre--he's really amazing. If he will do it we will have ourselves a bit of a coup. I was thinking that I will create a shirt with that icon on the front and on the back I'll sell name slots that people can buy (names of loved ones lost or fighting cancer--or the names of our daughters who we want to stay breast cancer free). I'll wear that as my Day 2 shirt.
Not only that, but we can create these t-shirts for everyone and open a Cafe Press store or some other store where we can sell merchandise and raise more money that way. We can sell appliques for knitting bags, too! I think Cafe Press actually sells totes, too.
What else do we need? Let's brainstorm here.

Jesse, those images are very similar to what I have in mind !! I have someone I'm talking to right now, Dawn from Play on Elements, so hopefully she'll be able to do some/all of what we need.
Of course my favorite image of all time is this one:

I see something like a cross between superfriends and charlie's angels. I've described this logo before, I'd lvoe to make it happen!

I think I might pay big bucks for a personalized Fiber Arts Avenger shirt. A baby tee. I need new tees.
Also, I kept dreaming last night, about having names of survivors, friends and family on the back of your t-shirt. I think it's a really great idea.
One quick idea to run by you. I'd like to get the word out about our yarn beyond our usual spheres. Does anyone know of a knitting e-letter or boards or the like that might be a good place to carry an ad for it?
www.knittersreview.com might be a good idea for yarn ads
ETA: I'm not sure if they carry ads...

Seriously chickies, I think it's gonna rock ;)
FYI: knitter's review def does ads in the newsletter, and I'm fairly certian I've seen them on the forums, too. What about the knitty forums? There's that thread on MDC with everyone's fave knitting forums, we should hit all those for ads ;)

Should we ask if they'll donate a space or give us a discount, since it's for charity? Or is that a no-no?
Good ideas, T.
Pamela, is Dawn doing the logo? Like her chicklet pics on Play on Elements? Oooh, can we have a sneak peek, please!?!?!?!?!?

I just had an advertising brainstorm!!! Yay! Pamela - does MDC allow siggy "advertising" for non profit free of charge? I think I saw somewhere, once upon a time that you could ask permission. Maybe we could add the info to our siggys there.....

Do we still need a banner done? I could put one together. Ideas and critiquing would be helpful to me, too.

I like that, but I think she should be angled a bit, looks like she's doing a workout video instead off flying ;)

yay!
Jesse
I got yarn for the Boobie Scarf. A LYS carries the Rowan Calmer yarn for the Shedir cap, and I'm going to find a substitute for the Reynolds Blizzard for the Heart Scarf. I have tons of yarn I can use for the Boobie scarf, so no need to buy that. The LouLou socks take worsted weight yarn, so if I can't find Lorna's Laces, then I'll find a really soft substitute.
I'll be hitting the store tomorrow!

I just wanted to let you all know that Clara, owner of the Knitter's Review weekly newsletter, and forums has graciously donated an ad spot to us!
As soon as we are up and running the banner ad will go up! So please, head on over to www.knittersreview.com and check it out.
Yay for generous people!
