when knitting or crocheting?
For me, it is casting on. Boring but necessary, I know.... but I just wish all things came cast on my needles.

k3tog - it's not quite the bane of my existence, but close!
Oh, weaving in ends too. I have a hard time w/ the knit-picky finishing stuff! :crud:

Oh yeah.... I can't stand the loose end finishing up stuff, either. Maybe more than casting on... :crud:

The absolute worst is when every row is done the same...over and over...same stitch, each row, for hundreds of rows....BORING!!! If I must do that, I have to use varigated yarn for the change for my eyes or I'd go nuts! :crazy

Arg! I also hate recounting my cast on!!! Why oh why don't I just pay attention the first time??
Sadly, I don't like purling. I'm hoping to learn to love it but my purls are always loose and I am a tight knitting fanatic so it bugs the doo-doo out of me.

OK, I've only knit one project, but I had to do something I hope NEVER to do again - binding off in purl. It was awful and horrible. :rant YUCK!
I'm also not feelin' the I-cord love. Ummm. . . isn't I-cord supposed to be easy?

Picking up stiches around the leg holes to do the rib for soakers. Is there an easy way to do it that I'm missing? I never end up with the same number of stiches on each side!

Easy fun way to bind off in purl:
Purl two together. * Slip stitch back to LH needle. Purl two together. Continute from *

Knitting that first row after casting-on, ribbing in general, I-cords,...
Hmm, maybe I should be doing the hundreds of stockinette rows for someone who's willing to start my projects.

I pick up ALL the stitches then decrease a few in the first row. I make a note of how many I have then decrease to that amount on the other side.
I am bad about not writing it down and recounting over and over!
What I hate most is probably deciding what size to make based on some mamas fantasy of a soaker that will fit forever lol! I have commitment issues I think.......
