Since I am lazy - and don't know my geography....Is that near Chicago...I seem to recall that county up there.....
I am on the other side of your state - in the KC area.....so would be about 3 hours more to my trip.....

Oh great! One of my favorite parts of Chicago to drive in!
I wonder what airfare will be like? It used to be soooo cheap to fly from KC to O'hare.....people used to fly up for the day to go shopping or to baseball games....

Mapquest put it at about 4.5 hours from where I am... We've done Amtrack to Chicago before too, but not sure where this event is in relation to any Amtrack stations... I have no idea if I can make it or not, guess we should ask the west coasters if this is a bring the baby type of thing. He'll be over a year by then, but likely still nursing and I don't see leaving him for 2 or 3 days. It sounds like sooo much fun though!
Serena, what city are you in ? I'm in Glen Carbon. :)

Man it is about 8 hours from here.....Wonder if I could talk Dh into it for my b-day which is right before this event.
I have one that nurses occassionally and I wouldn't want to leave her for a few days either. Actually I like them being around and miss them terribly even when we are apart for a day or evening....But I would like some "alone" time to pet yarn and such....

It was do-able. I will definitely be going without Dom next year, but it wasn't bad. I took a stroller, which he didn't want to be in most of the time, but it was great for holding our stuff and really great once he fell asleep. I also took my sling - but he was only in that for a half hour or so. He was really sick of being stuck in a car, a stroller, a sling, etc. and just wanted to run around. So we took a couple breaks near the eating area where there was space for him to run around. He was much better after that. Of course, he was totally pissed being stuck in the car seat the ride home...but it was worth it cause I got the perfect yarn for socks for me! - and I mean perfect.
