I knit my first nice looking soaker. To think a week ago I didn't even know how to knit. :didit Only problem is my 4 yr old thought he would be a great help by cutting all the strings. Ah, strings that are suppose to be attached between stitches kwim. So I am continuously finding areas that are unraveling :yikes Any ideas on how to fix this. Would the best method be to crochet them back in?

I dont know how to begin to answer this question. I am flabbergasted.

You think you are flabbergasted. It was all I could do to not get totally upset with him and dh for leaving the scissors out. At least it was only acrylic. I am still upset about it though. I had put it on my daughter and it looked really cute until I started seeing some of the stitches coming apart. I don't know how to get it through dh's head to not leave the scissors lying about. Ohh, and they decided they were going to cut off some of the peices off of my quilt. The quilt has embroidered patches. :bang . It sucks being in a house full of boys at times.

My 4 year old decided to trim his own bangs a week or so ago....

At least you can buy more yarn!

My three year old did that, he took a huge chunk of hair from the side of his head. My husband had left the scissors out then too, lol. You know I am starting to think that I should lock all the scissors up so that even dh can't get them 8) . Maybe I wouldn't have so many problems then.

My dh constantly leaves scissors and knives all about the house. I keep telling him not to leave them out as I constantly pick up after him. I feel like such a nag, but seriously, how many times do I have to explain to him that someone could get hurt. :?

Back to your soaker - how many stitches are cut? A lot? One or two? I was thinking maybe some fabric glue might hold little cuts together for at least a little while - that way you at least get some use out of it.

The cuts are mostly in the waste area. I am thinking that I might try fixing it by crocheting the stitches in. At least it is in an area that won't show as much because I used a stockinette stitch all the way to the end so that the top curls over. Looked cute on paper but I think I will try ribbing next time as I think this will give a slimmer fit.

Thanks for all your help. I will be MIA for a little bit now.
