Hey gals, I need some advice from experienced pattern writers. I'm knitting in the round, in a k7 P3 rib. I know that in stockinette, knit flat, I get 5 sts/in on sevens. But that is not translating for some of my knitters who are getting oversized results. Their ribbed knitting comes out much looser than mine.

How can I guide them to achieve the right tension?

I am seeing I can calculate gauge in reverse...

If 126 stitches in rib pattern= 19 inches

That's about 26.5 sts/4"

I"m not sure that's really helpful to the end user, however. How to do gauge over ribbing? Seems if you stretch it flat, that is not accurate. If you squoosh it together.. ??? Any suggestions?
