Who do you knit for?

I knit soakers, longies and shorts for DS. I knit some longies for a friend.

BUT I also knit a lot for myself! :bag :shocked: I am making the Tasha bag from Knitty, the LTK mama halter for me and then it's on to socks. And you know what, I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. :hide

Oh, I've also made some toys for DS too. And baby presents, but really it is mostly for me. :D

So far I've only been knitting for Anwyn. She is the proud owner of three soakers and a pair of shorts in progress. I am going to work on a cardigan and shirt for her next. I also have a couple of patterns lined up for myself, and dh is bugging me for a sweater. God knows why since we live in South FL. :roll:

Money is going to be tight this Christmas, so I think everyone is going to get scarves. :sly: That will let me practice the decorative stitches and work w/ some funky yarns.

I would love to give knitted gifts for Christmas. My mom has said she'd love to have a hat and mittens that match. I asked my dad if he would wear socks I knitted for him and he said "I think I'll pass." They would be knit at the same gauge as the ones he wears now, and I tried to explain that to him. [Eyeroll] DH has requested a pair of wool socks, though I haven't started them yet. I've just knit soakers, and now I'm working on the French Market Bag from knitty.com in addition to the couple of soakers on my needles at the moment. They say a knitted sweater for Christmas is the most dreaded gift (more than fruitcake). I have no desire to knit anyone sweaters. And knitting is too much trouble to do it for people who don't appreciate it. That's why I'm asking first. I might to a hat and scarf for MIL and SIL without checking first since I've seen them wear such things. BIL will get beer coozies for Christmas. It also depends on whether I run out of time to knit something for everyone. I'm still working hard to build a collection of soakers for ds.

Mainly in the past, I have knit for my family. Hats, scarves, mittens...and anytime a new baby joins the family, I knit them a sweater and hat set. I have a new niece coming in November, still trying to find a pattern I love. :)

I never manage to knit for myself. :-/ Instead I knit for family, friends, and for profit.

Babies! They're so small, I actually finish. I knit a sock for myself once. A complicated fair isle kit w/ fabulous wool in bright colors. 1 sock took me forever. Then my kitty peed on it & my dad threw it in the wash. I didn't have the :heart or the yarn to make 2 more. :crud: I was 16 @ the time...

I knit (and crochet) for me. I just happen to give the end products to other people... :chickytu: (<-- I just like that one)

I've made myself some stuff, but mostly it's for other people. I completely outfitted my love last winter, mittens, scarf, hat. He was warm. :) I've done a complete set of juggling balls for my brother :juggle , hats for a couple of friends, slippers for my dad, a bag for my mom, a teddy bear for my nephew I STILL haven't finished sewing together (I'm thinking at this point he's getting it for his 16th bday :faint ), and, of course, 3.5 soakers for whomever I can foist them on. :)

i knit for everyone except my family ususally. i'm too busy with sales to do any personal knitting. however, almost all of the knitting i did 2 weeks ago was for my 2 girls :) i made my oldest a pair of patriotic shorts, my youngest a patriotic soaker, 2 prs of shorts and a pair of capri pants. i also made them a felted sheep, but i have to make another because they fight over sheepy now LOL.
