My son received a video game for Christmas and when we try to play it, we get a message saying we need a Direct 3D video card to play it. Now, how do I find out which video card out puter has?

Thanks,

well, it would be great if you upgraded to xp. ;) try right clicking on your desktop and click on properties. choose settings. there will be a line that says something to the effect of
display:
plug and play.....

this is how you know on xp. some lego games require a 16 mb graphics card. with 98 you probably don't have it unless you've installed an upgraded card.

direct3d is a microsoft thang. it's kind of like an extention of direct x. i know windows 95 didn't come with it, but i don't know about 98.

sorry i'm not much help! :hug

eta: i made some major assumptions. is 98 the os your puter came with? like, is your comp a few years old?

OK when I did the right click thingie, it said:

Display Default Monitor on Intel(R) 82810R Graphics Controller. Is that clear as mud? I have no clue what it means.

I am hoping for a new puter in the new year :) [/list]

OK I downloaded it, it installed itself and it still doesn't work. :( I get the same message. Maybe my puter is too old?
