Hi All,
I am wanting to dye/knit/felt my own purse, but not sure what colors I should attempt. Sooo...What colors do you think I should try? Anyone have an opinion? Also, will 1 skein of Fisherman's be enough to make a largeish bag? Larger than 11" high and 24" around?
Hugs,
tammy

Hmmm, not sure about size/skeins, but I think a neutral pallette would look great, with browns, tans, and creams. But it also depends on what colors most of your wardrobe/coat are.

Here's the pattern I used and I think it took just about a skein of fisherman's....I used scrap yarn from soaker experiments.....(helps if I put in the link)

Thank you for the link, so at least I know what to shoot for, but my base will be square :D

Canadian grape watered down might do the trick.

ooooooooo ... NOT WILTONS though. Stay far far away from wilton's purple dye!

I haven't used Wilton's purple but from my experience with cornflower and royal blue I wouldn't trust Wilton's when trying for ANY SPECIFIC color.

If you like brights, how about lavender, violet, and magenta? I think they would look great together. You can also throw a little turquoise/teal in there too.
I've gotten great lavender from Jacquard acid dye in lilac. You only need to use a very little bit, though, or you will end up with purple. Ask me how I know ;)
